Because in the past women needed to stay with their dick of a husband. Now they have financial security without a man, so why should they put up with beatings, rapings and abuse?

Better welfare bennies if you're single. Get knocked up at 14 in many states and you get your own apartment and free stuff for many years, free schooling as well. Get married and you get punished instead.
