Why are SNAP benefits so high?

Well you have that option.

For those of us without such an option, we are glad we paid in for 40 years or so to have a good insurance plan upon retirement. I’ve been very happy with the coverage, but it IS EXPENSIVE when you add the primary, the supplemental, and the drug plan.
No one says you have to buy the supplemental or the drug plan. I don't need either one, but my wife has both. It is about 1/5 the cost of her medical insurance under COBRA she had before she turned 65.

I’m glad I have the supplemental. One trip to the ER - and it paid off.

The drug plan? I’m thinking of dropping it next Open Season.

Now you’ve just reduced yourself to a ridiculous troll.
Really? Now you have to resort to attacking me to avoid answering the questions?

Now the money I earn is the employer’s money?!
It came from your employer didn't it. You would say you EARNED it. I would not differ with you. Still, the guy in the next cubicle might goof off 100% of the time doing nothing and he would still get paid what you do. The point is that if someone qualifies for a government program BY the government according to their own criteria THEY set, they have earned it too as a bone fide American citizen.

You claim that to make welfare recipients just as entitled to spend their government charity money as self-supporting people are to spend their OWN money.
I'm not making anyone entitled. Just so happens you both qualify for financial support; you work 8 hours a day doing whatever your boss needs done and these people qualify for a whole lot less, just some assistance with food, for being poor. Frankly, I'd rather not be poor.

You sound like a leftist.
You sound like a fascist. The scary thing is how few here see that. THE ONLY REAL POINT I'M TRYING TO MAKE HERE is that even if you remove colas from the SNAP list of qualifying foods, it might make you feel good that you've accomplished something, but--
  1. The government will spend not a dime less.
  2. The taxpayer will not save even a dollar.
  3. No one will get any healthier.
  4. And worst of all, you are only opening the door to the government eventually seeing fit to regulate how you eat as well.
I really expected that to be pretty easy to understand and self-evident, and I never expected to have to repeat it 50 times.

But I guess you'll learn the hard way.

It's pretty good for government work.
If the government was concerned about our health, they would have programs and agencies that promote health. Of course it's hard to drain the swamp when you're up to your ass in alligators.

There are three levels of 'health'.

1. True health.
2. Just not sick at the moment.
3. Sick.

The government operates mostly in the third level, and nowhere near the 1st level.

See post #172 for your answer.

For people to ***** about able bodied recipients to show they work or do volunteer work for 20 hours a week to get 100% free Medicaid coverage is beyond the pale.
We need a WPA like program for community service.

We've got some waterways that need attention, dead trees all over the place, trash along the highways, etc.

The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is: About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men. About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women.
This is sad. Women (and minorities) are on the short end of the stick again getting 1 liter less/day. Typical male chauvinism.

Women and some minorities outlive us white men. Is there an 'ism' for that?

Stick your sick form of feminism where it don't sunshine.

Coles Apple & Mango Juice 2L

Vinut Pineapple Fruit Juice With Pulp

Rougemont Royal Gala Apple Juice

None of that is appropriate for little kids. Juice makes them fat and pre-diabetic.

I hope you are not supporting yourself as a satirist.
I thought it was excellent satire. I also am wondering why primarily those on the extreme left don't get or understand satire. Trump uses it a lot (as do I), and the radicals go baby bonkers thinking he's serious when he muses about things such as a third term or that he didn't care about certain people and only wanted their votes.

I can just see a group of leftists at some party sipping green tea, and someone like Rodney Dangerfield comes along telling joke after joke, and they just frown and sneer.

What's up with that sort of behavior, where nothing is funny to those on the left? I'm coming to you for advice on this important question I have.

It’s been very well observed that people on the Left have no sense of humor.

(I got your sarcasm, btw.)
