Why are Mexican, Canadian, and EU Tariffs on US Goods Okay?

The OP misses the point. Any tariffs on US goods by our allies are in compliance with free trade agreements previously negotiated just as the US has had certain tariffs on foreign goods pursuant to those free trade agreement.

What Trump has done is unilaterally violate those agreements for no reason whatsoever. There are only a minuscule amount of illegals coming over the Canadian border and the amount of fentanyl from Canada is minuscule of a minuscule amount.

If you read Trump’s tweets, he seems to have enacted the tariffs on Canada to force them to become a U.S. State. All Trump has accomplished is to alienate our closest ally over the stupidest of reasons.

Patience. We need to deport a few million illegals to have that happen.

DOGE is stopping payments to NGOs, so that should speed up the self-deportations.

How is deporting people actually doing the work cheaply going to bring down prices?

Kind of the opposite. Either you'll have to hire slacker Americans to do that work or you'll have production levels fall.

That makes prices go up, dummy.

How can you even ask such a question? These countries are following Trump's guidelines and beliefs. Trump is all about payback and revenge and Mexico, Canada and China are doing what Trump does............playing his game in his park.

It would be hilarious, except for the fact that WE (the citizens) are the ones that pay for them. We are the losers in this game
Nah, you were a loser long before this…

My answer is I would rather have economic alliances than trade wars
Well those alliances should begin with Mexico Canada and China dropping tariffs on American goods. Mexico and China especially have no equivalent to the EPA, the FDA or OSHA. I believe Canada is a little bit better than either of those two in that regard.

We started the Trade War
/----/ Nope. They have been in place for decades. Did you know China places a high tariff on imported US cars? (The Chinese love our Buicks)

And who was president in May 2024? I can't seem to recall.
On May 14, 2024, the United States announced tariffs for thirteen imports from China, the most notable of these being the 100 percent duties imposed on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).

I say we are paying the market rate and Trump is lying that they overcharge us

Tariffs do nothing but increase prices of everything we buy
/-----/ "Tariffs do nothing but increase prices of everything we buy"
Nope. Just on the stuff from certain countries. There is no tariff on US-made jeans. Where do you buy your jeans?

Sometimes tariffs are put on certain goods and have a good reason for doing so, like protecting a product they think is important. Usually when this happens the other country will also have tariffs on things they think are important.

What Trump is doing is just "tariffs on everything" for no reason other than "I'm a ****, and I can".

So which American tariffs would be okay to place on these foreign states?

No serious answer from you.

Impoverishing citizens to keep paying off those in alliances is suicide. We live in a new environment we created. China is not going anywhere. We need a shield in the Western Hemisphere. And divide it into a few entities for our protection. The United Startes is the primary one. Controlling a good percentage of the Arctic Circle is important. Promoting a stop gap in Central America for Illegals to eventually get into our nation is in our interest to survive. It sucks I know. To keep paying people off though is what we are all about now.
