Zone1 Why are Aircraft Seats So Painful

And now for something not political. Why the hell are commercial aircraft seats so painful? I was able to drive five hours without difficulty. A five hour flight requires pain meds and stretching and trying to stand in the seat. Even rtegular buses are substantially better. Why are airline seats so painful?

I used to love to fly, but thanks to all ridiculous things going on with the airlines I have returned to the greatest mode of travel ever...TRAINS

I have less flying experience, but the seats were fine on my few flights in economy class. I had pain on the seat in a rental car. Next time I rent I'll take a cushion, maybe two. The cause could have been lack of lumbar support.
