The Public Official Accountability Act (POAA) aims to hold elected public officials accountable for their words and actions while in office and gives more latitude to take action for dishonest acts while serving in office. The act is still being formulated however the basic plan is as follows:

1. A bipartisan congressional accountability committee would be formed
2. The committee would tasked with accepting and analyzing complains about fellow elected officials
3. If a fellow official was deemed to have lied or intentionally misled the public while acting in the capacity of their office then they would receive a one time warning and would be required to film a video apology and correct the record. These videos would be made public record.
4. If they violate the act a second time they would be subject to impeachment.

We need to do something to hold our elected officials to basic standards of honesty. They should be held to higher standards that we hold average citizens. The lying and dishonesty has reached a toxic level. Policiticans will not pass an act like this on their own but if the people get loud enough we can demand that they do. Since im sure there are a few billionaire activists out there reading this, as thats who I assume own most the accounts on this message board, how about you slap a few million into starting a cause to get this Act passed!

Yes, think about it. The partisans will either need to call a truce and stop lying about each other or the partisans will attack each other every time they go on camera and lie. They will eat each other alive. It would be beautiful

The Congress approval rating is just over that of the Lame Stream Media, both in the low 10%.

What reason is there to believe that if this act is enacted, and any attempt is made to enforce it, that it will be used for any other purpose than to suppress legitimate expressions of opinions and policies that are deemed to be disagreeable?

There are appropriate ways to express opinions, promote policy ideas, and engage in healthy debate. But there are also lines that get crossed by members of both parties when it comes to lying and spreading misinformation. That line should be defined and if crossed there should be penalties. I’d suggest a similar thing be put in place in the media for those who want to call themselves journalists

I'm sure you'll continue to hold to this, as long as those who get to make the determination as to where the lines are and when they are crossed are on your side.

One thing that you subhuman left wrong wing pieces of shit never think about, as you advocate for greater and greater powers on the part of government to suppress the expression of opinions that you find disagreeable, is what will happen when that power falls into the hands of those who oppose you.

And every time that happens, the only thing that saves you is that we on the right are not the same kind of tyrannical pieces of shit that you on the left wrong are, and therefore not inclined to abuse these powers in the manner that your kind crave to abuse them. Unlike you, we are actual human beings, with a conscience,a grasp of right and wrong, and a set of ethical and moral values in accordance with which we feel compelled to behave.

Next time, perhaps we should commit the exact same abuses against you, that your kind are always so eager to commit against us, just to teach you a lesson that your kind seem incapable of learning any other way.

None.

Conservatives oppose the Act because they fear it would take from them the ability to use misinformation, conspiracy theories, and lies to advance their partisan agenda.

Of course, you're one who is familiar with the "cooling effect" such a law would have on free speech.

Then again, I knew you were a commie shit twinkle-toed cocksucker, so it kind of fits. You love suppressing free speech, don't you motherfucker?

Won't be worth the paper it's written on, you can't impeach a congresscritter, they're the biggest liars of all. Of course they never subject themselves to the same rules they impose on others.
