Who is Bernie Sanders?

It's interesting how far the socialist movement has come in the US in such a short time. .
Very true, and it's clear that more and more people are open to discussing it, defending it, and even promoting it.

So why is that?

I think the Right has had a significant hand in this. It could be argued that constantly screaming "socialism" every time a government program is mentioned has made many people think, "well, I think that program is okay, and they're calling it socialism, so maybe socialism is okay too."

This could pretty easily end up being a self-inflicted wound.
.

Or.......maybe it's because Democratic Socialism isn't the bogey man that some have tried to make it out to be? Maybe there is a great deal of pragmatism found within what Bernie is suggesting? Maybe enough of the American people are capable of seeing past the scare tactics and bumper stickers and understand that this nation needs to deal with income inequality now.

Self inflicted wound? Sounds so dire! Earmuffs, bitch.

Socialism has been defined around the world since at least WWII as always democratic, basically fair capitalism with a good safety net and sometimes nationalization of certain necessary-for-life industries (Health care, energy). Only Cold War dinosaur Pub dupes have your idiotic problem.
I should put this in my signature because the left is constantly re-branding socialism to make the sale.

Definition of SOCIALISM
: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

That isn't democratic by any stretch of the imagination, nor has it ever been fair. Power corrupts and those that have it will misuse it. Our only hope for prosperity is to defeat the lying left before they do so much harm we're screwed for life, because no amount of evidence or examples will sway them from their foolhardy beliefs.
BTW, you had to skip the first definition to get to the scary stuff, LIAR.
socialism
play
noun so·cial·ism \ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm\
Simple Definition of socialism: a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies
  • In other words, we're already socialist, just one dominated by lying GOP billionaires, dupes like you, and pander to the rich injustice. see sig DUH.
No, I posted the first definition in the full definition section and provided the link. Above that the simple definition reads:
socialism
play

That's not democracy.
You're full of shit.
America will not go there in your pathetic lifetime.
Feel the burn.
Sure as hell is democracy...wtf are you talking about, dupe of greedy idiot billionaires. Energy, health care are smarter and cheaper and nationalized in democracies everywhere but here, chump. Banks wouldn't bother me either.
Nationalizing private companies is how you define democracy? God damn you are weird.

Who here agrees with this quote from Bernie?

"The incident only hardened Sanders' skepticism of corporate power. Television, Sanders wrote in 1979, was a particularly pernicious evil, rooted in "the well-tested Hitlerian principle that people should be treated as morons and bombarded over and over again with the same simple phrases and ideas." Television stations were "attempting to brainwash people into submission and helplessness"

Is corporate America equivalent to Nazism? Could they be purified by having government take them over?

Bernie Sanders is a brain-dead Communist who longs to be America's Lenin.

He is devoted to democracy - until he achieves power.
