This is for anyone, but especially the men.

Many here are divorced, some more than once, or married and not happy. I don't know if this is just old guy culture--complaining about the wife--but it's striking, especially given that married men are generally happier than unmarried men, statistically.

So, are you married? How many times, how many years? If you feel comfortable sharing: happily so?

As for me:

We have been married for 31 years, and I am very happy, and I have no reason to believe hubby is not. Being a Christian wife means that you put him over yourself...

My first marriage ended in a divorce after 5 years, the second one was only "common law", and lasted 12 years. Happily married now to #3 for 19 years, she's a keeper.

Like they say, "Third time's the charm."

Right here.
And her ass is too...as long as dinner is on time.

I'm glad you found her, and that she's a keeper! There are good women out there! (My son better find one....but that's another story. Ha)

Married to the same woman since 1977.....That's also why we are living a comfortable retirement.

My peers who are still working have one thing in common.....Multiple marriages and kids by each one.

Awww, good for you guys! A long marriage can be a real blessing. The downside is: if you really have a great marriage, at some point you have to say goodbye. My dad worshipped the ground my mom walked on. She passed in July of '24, and watching him mourn her has been gut-wrenching.

Married, once, 31 years, most years have been happy. Currently very happy as we get closer to empty nesting with self sufficient kids. Turns out raising those things can be stressful on a marriage.

Im happily single.
I have been married. Dont plan on it again, unless jennifer anniston walked through my door. She can get it!
Maybe one day but definitely not right now. No mortgage, no vehicle payments, no outstanding loans. I dont want to ruin that LOL

Meh, I'm cut from different cloth in that regard. People die, it's a fact of life.

I've been married once. I've never been divorced. My wife died last year and next week I'm getting married again.
We'll see if it's a happy marriage. I hope it's my last.
I know one thing....this time around is turning out to be more expensive. My first wedding ring set cost me $300. This new set cost me $10,000.00

Agree. The rockiest part of our marriage is when our kids were small. We were both working, no family in the area. Tough.

BUT

We are empty nesters now and we LOVE it. Kids are 28 and 26, both in good jobs, one married. People said empty nesting was so sad....but honestly, we love it (and love our kids and love to see them too, ofc).

Also, we were married in 1994 too!

The secret to a long and lasting marriage...

..... ..... ..... Always put her needs before yours...

..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... Otherwise she isn't like to stop talking until you do anyway...

..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... So surrender early.

..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... Fewer arguments that way.

I would say: yes to putting your spouses needs above yours. And lots of women talk too much, and nag.
