Who created the modern Democrat Party? It is an interesting question because the Dems are clearly in utter disarray at this point in history. The Democrat Party for most of my life was the Party of the working man (at least nominally) and championed mainstream civil rights. The GOP was more traditional and more aspirational in upward mobility.

Both the Democrats and the GOP Parties I have known most of my life are gone, utterly destroyed. Both were done in by Trump. The GOP has slowly, and at times reluctantly, pivoted to Trump's populism and it is working. The Dems are lost.

So why, and who created the modern Dem Party?

In my mind in all goes back to Obama. He said he wanted to "fundamentally transform America." However, he never defined this, nor did the media (in Obama's pocket), ever ask him what it meant. Obama's vision in my view was cultural Marxism. Redistribution of wealth, intersectionality, dependence on the State versus individualism ( Jane with the Government holding her hand throughout life), and the erosion of Family, Faith, and Personal identity. All those lines must at first be blurred and then destroyed.

It is no secret Obama terribly hurt the Democrat Party during his Presidency. Over 1000 State House seats flipping from Dem to GOP, losing 63 Congressional House seats in his first Mid-term (One of the biggest shellackings in American History) and 35 seats in his second Mid-term.

And Obama and his people were running the White House during Biden's disastrous Presidency (Susan Rice et al). So, where will the Democratic Party go? Can they abandon Obama's Marxist vision and tack back into the American Mainstream, or do they stay in the wilderness?

Working class Dems have been pinching their nose and voting Dem since Obama. But I predicted as soon as they had a viable alternative they would bail out of the Dem party in droves, that's what we are seeing now.

Dems can't paint Trump as the mean old Republican of old because he's not that. Dems are completely confused by Trump. They have thrown everything and the kitchen sink at him and he just keeps kicking their ass and peeling away their working class base.

Trump is an old-style conservative democrat that switched to republican but maintained the populist ideals.
The new Dem Party needs to get back to removing obstacles in our country that keeps individuals from improving their lives through education, civil rights and economic and other legislation and enforcement.

They’ve become the party of abortion.

Then they added on transgenderism for kids.

They also are the party of war.

They did this to themselves.

Only 22% of men currently approve of the Democrat Party. And this number includes Minority men. This is stunning to me, but it brought me back to another Obama trope.

Remember Pajama Boy from the Obama Administration? This was their idea of what American men should be. Ultra beta males living with mommy (no daddy), wearing cute little jammies sipping coca and ever so happy to be unemployed but getting their Obama Care.

Ladies, trust me on this, no man with a sack would ever want to be Pajama Boy. But this is the Obama (and now Democrat) ideal of what real American men should be.

Remember the Dems pushing Tim Walz as a real man? :D Oh my God. Elmer Fudd.

The Democrats' "divide and conquer" strategy began with FDR's pitting of poor vs. rich in 1932. JFK's father added election shenanigans to the recipe, and Nixon's forced resignation was the beginning of political prosecution. Clinton contributed "pay to play" political corruption, and Obama enshrined the race card in Democrat politics.

Biden represented the culmination of these tactics into their modern theory of victimhood, where their voters are solely motivated by revenge for perceived injustices committed by their oppressors. Fortunately, people are waking up to that destructive ideology. The Democrats are running out of victims, and have no one else to recruit.

I think there is some truth in this. The old-style Democrat was mostly fiscally responsible and disciplined, this new-style Democrat Party is 100% opposite of that. The old-style Democrat actually tried to do good things for the people they represented. This new-style Democrat Party supports the most fringe elements of society including the criminal element and turns a blind eye to the harm it does to the general population.

Republicans generally have favored smaller government, states rights, lower taxes, less regulation and power to the people to generate and sustain a healthy economy and come up with the improvements, concepts, inventions/discovers/developments etc. that move us ahead as a society.

Trump is a blend of old-style Democrat and modern day Republican in philosophy but actually is his own thing. He thinks outside the box, refuses to be categorized, and sets aside politics and status quo expectations in favor of trial and error, try try again, and fight fight fight until a real and lasting solution can be found for problems. He is Republican in his more libertarian (small 'L') views but definitely old-style conservative Democrat in his faith in federal government to accomplish many of those things.

But it seems to be a mix that works. He definitely finds a way to get things done.

They did this to themselves.
Race and gender preferences

Language police

No punishment for criminals

Open borders

Attacks on the Supreme Court

Transgender sports competitions

Antisemitism

Wealth tax

Cancel culture

Welfare State

Government run healthcare mandates

Sanctuary Cities

Two-Tiered Justice system

Looking forward to the baby-shower for the new-born Democrat Party.

I've lived a long life and have been a sociopolitical animal for pretty much all of it WQ. And I have been trained in investigative journalism as well as political science and sociology before sociology went far left wacko woke, and God seems to have given me ability and curiosity to notice, analyze, evaluate the body politic.

The seeds of Marxism in America existed of course in the very small contingency of communist minded Americans that were identified early in the 20th Century around the same time Lenin gained power in Russia. They were just a curious anomaly though until WWII when he U.S. first feared communist infiltration into American government and industry. (That of course triggered the controversial 'McCarthyism' that existed from the mid 40's into the late 50's and was often misused in bad ways.) The result was to anger and promote anti-Americanism among the still very small but determined group of Marxists among us.

Their influence became evident in the flower children of the 1960's. This would be the first generation ever to totally reject the values and traditions of the previous generation and rebel against it. They claimed to be anti-war but mostly they were anti-American and everything it stood for while claiming to promote peace and love.

They would grow up and mature and modify in the 1970's but the seeds of Marxism remained within that group no doubt promoted by the deep state of that era that intended to remake America in the Marxist image.

But from the l970's on the remnants of the flower children made their way into media, education, entertainment, government, big business, scientific institution, religion--all fields that have the largest influence on social values, thought, beliefs. They would mentor like minded people to join them and eventually replace them until the conservatives embracing the values and traditions and beliefs of the past were increasingly estranged and uncomfortable in their jobs and most eventually left those fields.

That situation has increased and exacerbated itself through the decades since. The last mostly conservative America first minded congress we have had was during the Clinton Administration when Newt Gingrich and his reform minded Republicans plus Tim Penny and some 30 odd conservative Democrats joined forces to force tax and welfare reform. Clinton kept vetoing the legislation until it became obvious this is what the public wanted and he finally signed it into law. It not only saved his floundering presidency, it gave us a revived economy and the closest thing to a balanced budget that we had ever seen in the 20th Century.

But alas, Gingrich and the other reformers, both Republican and Democrat, term limited themselves out and were replaced by progressive Democrats and globalist minded Republicans that allowed the Marxists to continue to gain a slow but increasing presence in government and all areas of society in which they could control the message.

Obama was the first essentially Marxist minded person to be elected President and greatly strengthened the anti-American, anti-American values Marxist presence among us.

Trump 45 did his best to turn around that trend but was opposed strongly by woke Democrats and old guard globalist Republicans. He accomplished an amazing amount in the three years he had but was completely sidelined by COVID in 2020 and then was not re-elected.

Biden put on steroids the Marxist agenda along with the woke doctrines intended to destroy the America the founders intended. They didn't call it that of course, but the agenda was to tear down everything that makes America America--the history, our monuments, our traditional values and traditions, our sense of right and wrong, etc. When that is accomplished, the Marxists can move in to take control in order to 'save' us and we will be under totalitarian rule.

The Democrat Party has come out of the shadows as the full blown woke Marxist minded group that has been developing for a long time now.

Who is behind it all? In my opinion it has been a wide cumulation of things Certainly Saul Alinksy, George Soros, union leaders of the past, and others have been a strong influence. I wish I had time left and the resources to research it to try to find out exactly who has engineered this disastrous movement that has brought the Democrat Party to the terrible state it is in. I think it would make a fascinating read.

But then I'm weird. :)

Room to destroy.....lib party in one phrase.

Jeffries has acquired significant wealth since he came to Washington but let's keep it honest. His net worth is around $9 million, not $36+ million. But his net worth in 2013 when he first came to Congress was something over $200,000. So to jump from that to $9 million in 12 years is pretty astounding.

But whether the facts re Jeffries are truth or mostly fiction, it is that kind of thing that underscore how much our government is mostly self serving and no longer gives much of a damn about the rest of us. Hopefully the reform minded MAGAs will continue to reclaim our government and turn that around. For sure that won't be done by the current Democrat Party.

Excellent summation. Very informative. I have read a great deal about Stalin, Lenin, and Marxism over the years. The central tenets are the State is God. Faith, Family, Individuality and Individual liberty are all in direct conflict with the goals and objectives of the State. In order for the State to be ascendant, those traditional values must be eliminated. Stalin talked at great length about the power of Lies. Lying to further the interests of the State is always good. Conventional morality is a bourgeoise concept with no meaning and should be rejected. The means always justify the end results.

Sounds a lot like the modern Democrat Party to me. Obama proudly stated his father was a Marxist. So was he, and the modern Democrat Party is his progeny.

Yep and thank you.

The Marxists have to tear down everything the people are or count important until there is pretty much nothing left. That justifies the Marxists to take over as a 100% totalitarian government that will dictate what people will be allowed to possess/use, what speech they are allowed to speak. Usually religion and traditions are outlawed as dangerous to the state.

In Marx/Engles theory, once the people have been reduced to a population entirely equal in everything, then the government can dissolve and the people will live in harmony and peace and mutual cooperation with each according to his ability providing for each according to his need, etc.

However, there is no nation in history in which a Marxist government having achieved that totalitarian power has been willing to give it up.
