17 Recessions in U.S. History

Democrats like to claim more recessions happen under Republican presidents than under Democrats. Above is the tally since 1857.

Looks like party does not make any difference.
Not only do you have several recessions attributed to the wrong political party, a stupid premise to begin with, but you made no mention of the DEEP RECESSION we are currently burdened with. Didn't you want to mention that so Trump's "Great Economy" wasn't blemished?
The issue was who was president during the various recessions.
You have a reading comprehension problem.

BULLSHIT!
As I showed you Carter was not even president during the entire 1973-1975 Nixon/Ford recession, Carter was sworn in in 1977.

Bullshit, Comrade Viktor!

YOU set the premise of your OP as STRICTLY ABOUT PRESIDENT & PARTY re: RECESSIONS for each recession enumerated in your INCOMPLETE AND INACCURATE LIST. There is nothing wrong with my reading comprehension dipstick, although the same cannot be said of your character!

Called to task for YOUR inaccuracies now, you wish to change the narrative and deviate from YOUR INITIAL PREMISE. However, fuck you very much, and get some new batteries for your toys, Comrade Viktor!! Here are your two closing sentences in the OP, and you want to tell me NOW your concluding words and all others above them were in regard to presidents and recessions only?

The Federal Reserve is the cuplrit in every instance.

We need to get back to free-market capitalism.

The Keyesians are gonna ride us straight into full blown socialism. We're almost there.
The Federal Reserve's function is to manage inflation by manipulating the money supply. They buy and sell CD's to do that. They also control the interest rate.
Exactly the problem

But that doesn't mean anything. For example, the 2008 sub-prime crash, can be traced straight to 1997, when the government forced banks to make bad loans, and at the same time, guaranteed bad loans through Freddie Mac.

And government being involved in mortgages to begin with, is a Democrat, or socialists left-wing policy.

So one of my issues is, just saying X person was the president, when Y event happened, doesn't follow.

Obama being in office, and the sun coming up, doesn't mean Obama caused the sun to come up.

You need to look at what policies caused the recession, and how it worked, more than who was in office at the time.

Additionally, congress holds a ton more power on the economy, than the president does. If Republicans held congress, and Democrats are in the oval office, that doesn't mean the one party or the other caused the event.

And lastly, there were Republicans that pushed left-wing policies, and Democrats that pushed right-wing policies.

Looking who had a (D) or (R) by their name, when something happened, really means nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Instead you need to look at the policy, and see which policies worked, and which failed. That would be more helpful.

Lies, all lies!
The great GOP depression was started by Hover REP, FDR was not president in 1929, 1929 was Hover's first year in office, FDR did not take office until 1933.

Eisenhower owns the 1960 recession, Kennedy did not take office until Jan 20 1961, the Eisenhower recession ended Feb 1961.

Carter didn't take office until 1977, so Ford and Nixon own the 1973-1975 recession.

Clinton didn't take office until 1993, so Bush I owns the 1990-1991 recession.

The Great BUSH Recession began Dec 2007, Obama didn't become president until 2009.

BTW, Buchanan was president in 1857.
Wait ...Viktor was lying?

Recessions that began before Dems took office were credited to those Dems by Viktor?

Oh noooooes.

A lying Republican!

Imagine that

Bubbles. Bubbles supported by both parties and enabled by the Federal Reserve.
... and now the Fed is every bit as involved a player in the economy as the consumer.

The New Capitalism: For Better or For Worse.

Probably more so. And we pretend this is Capitalism.

Such dumb arguments on here.

Ok, so this guy that lives down a few streets from me. His parents immigrated here from Mexico. Legally. He worked a cook at a diner near by, called Starliner Diner.

He saved up money, and mastered his cooking, while working there. Today, he owns his own restaurant, that he saved up his capital, to buy. And he has trained a few Chefs, and runs the restaurant called louie's fusion grill, and he is opening a second store.

Now I don't know about you, but that is Capitalism at the truest definition of the word.

That's capitalism. He sold his labor, saved capital, invested capital, and is making a return on that invest, which is growing his capital.

Take me. I work, I put money into stocks. Those stocks have grown, with capital gain, and with dividends. (Capital gain, being the increase in the value of the stock. Dividends being profit payments as part owner of the company, that are used to buy more stock).

That is capitalism. I am investing my capital, and getting a return on that investment. I have more than doubled my money, even with the drop in stock prices (which actually increased my returns actually).

That is what Capitalism is.

How do you get that this is not Capitalism?

Your stocks have gained because of the massive Socialist infusions from the Federal Reserve.

I explicitly pointed out that two Ds inherited recessions from two Rs and you’re trying to say I’m stating the opposite.
