What sort of due process did the kids get? Doesn't the school being PC make more sense than just about any other answer? Is there any way we can just make this thread about me or Ravi?

More pioneering public policy from California: White T-Shirts are now a sign of Racism.
I've come to the conclusion that accusations of Racism are to the present era what accusations of Being A Witch were in earlier centuries. The accused is put in the position of having to prove his or her innocence, and is punished without due process.
Students banned from a Central Coast school for wearing a white t-shirt. On Wednesday, Soquel High School suspended at least two students. The students say it's because of allegations, they're part of a white supremacist group.
"All the girls wore pink, all the sports guys wore tank tops," says Soquel High Senior Mikey Donnelly. "We were all going to wear white so that was the plan. Just wear white t-shirts to identify ourselves and look back and say that was our group of friends right there."
Soquel High Senior Mikey Donnelly wore a white t-shirt for his senior class photo Tuesday. About 10 of his friends did the same. That decision may seem harmless. But Soquel High suspended Donnelly for three days because of it.
Donnelly said the school told him people were offended and intimidated by his group, claiming they're a white supremacist gang.
"I do think this is BS," says Donnelly. "I'm not a white supremacist in any way shape or form. If I did say white power, I would probably say it just as much as I say black power."
He's not the only one upset.
"I feel disrespected," says Soquel High Senior David Mine.
Mine also wore a white t-shirt and was also suspended. He's missing out on finals and that could jeopardize his graduation.
"I'm Asian," says Mine. "I don't see how I can be a white supremacist. I'm against it completely."

I think there is more to this story than meets the eye.
That is all.
Negative buddy..........There are those of us here still fighting the good fight! You californians need to get outta there ASAP...California needs to resign from the Union.
At least ten kids were wearing the t-shirts and only 2 got suspended. Obviously there's more to this story.
The principal has the right and the responsibility to ban any "gang related" clothing. The Supreme Court has ruled on this. The ACLU and the courts are fed up with dealing with such petty issues. Every time a kid doesn't agree with a disciplinary action, they hire a fucking lawyer. Consequently, many schools simply give up on discipline. And we wonder why some schools are out of control?
Oh and white t-shirts are UNDERWEAR. Not appropriate in school at all in my opinion.
California Ed Code § 32282. Contents of Comprehensive School Safety Plan; Use of Existing Resources and Handbook; Grants for Implementation; Evaluation and Amendment; Submission for Approval
(F) The provisions of any school-wide dress code, pursuant to Section 35183, that prohibits pupils from wearing "gang-related apparel," if the school has adopted that type of a dress code. For those purposes, the comprehensive school safety plan shall define "gang-related apparel." The definition shall be limited to apparel that, if worn or displayed on a school campus, reasonably could be determined to threaten the health and safety of the school environment. Any school-wide dress code established pursuant to this section and Section 35183 shall be enforced on the school campus and at any school-sponsored activity by the principal of the school or the person designated by the principal. For the purposes of this paragraph, "gang-related apparel" shall not be considered a protected form of speech pursuant to Section 48950.
California Ed Code § 35183. Legislative Declaration Regarding Gang Regalia, Gang-Related Apparel and Gang Affiliation; Adoption and Enforcement of Reasonable Dress Code Policy;
(1) The children of this state have the right to an effective public school education. Both students and staff of the primary, elementary, junior and senior high school campuses have the constitutional right to be safe and secure in their persons at school. However, children in many of our public schools are forced to focus on the threat of violence and the messages of violence contained in many aspects of our society, particularly reflected in gang regalia that disrupts the learning environment.
(2) "Gang-related apparel" is hazardous to the health and safety of the school environment.
(3) Instructing teachers and administrators on the subtleties of identifying constantly changing gang regalia and gang affiliation takes an increasing amount of time away from educating our children.
Despite Mine's involvement, or lack thereof, in any of the reported activities, white power-themed events have indeed taken place on campus, as evidenced by the graffiti on school walls.
"It's very hurtful and scary that these kids walk around yelling 'Heil Hitler'," said one anonymous student in an email to Patch.

Do you think the ACLU will defend these students?
That's one nutty school. Geez freaking louise, let the kids take their finals.
The Associated Press: Students suspended after racist incidents in CalifStudents at a California high school have been suspended for suspected scrawling of racist graffiti and joining together in a white supremacy gesture while the senior class picture was being taken, school officials said Friday.Soquel High School administrators decided late Wednesday to suspend about five students and ban them from the prom, Santa Cruz City Schools Superintendent Gary Bloom said.
The suspensions came at the end of a school year marred by several racist incidents that included swastika graffiti and students making Hitler salutes.
The suspended students stood together wearing white shirts and bandannas during a senior class photo session in a move Bloom said was clearly intended as a display of white supremacist sentiment. Officials believe each of the students, whom they did not name, is responsible for at least one other racist incident in recent months.
