Independent of the pilot and what detailed information he might posses in regards to the mission parameters (usually not much) - and the aircraft itself. (usually very little aside from it's operational handling).

Are you daft. Powers shoot down was a international incident.

The 1960 U-2 incident, where US pilot Francis Gary Powers was shot down over Soviet territory, significantly heightened Cold War tensions and nearly caused a war by jeopardizing a planned summit and leading to a deterioration of US-Soviet relations.
