The PCBS analysis that showed a decrease in the population ran from the end of 2022 to May 2025. The CIA analysis which showed an increase in the population ran from the end of 2022 to mid-2024.


So the analysis that showed a decrease encompassed a much greater period of the war than the analysis which showed an increase. I.e., the CIA analysis does not necessarily contradict the PCBS analysis.

PLUS, they forced the Jews to sign contracts giving their land and property over to Egyptians. That means there are around 300,000 or 400,000 grandchildren of these expelled Jews who should get Bubbe and Zeyde’s land back.

I agree that these are all genocides, and they involve a greater number killed than what Israel is doing in Gaza.

A couple of points here:

1. The definition of genocide is not contingent on how many people are killed, it is determined by intent. Specifically, it is any of a set of crimes carried out with the intent to destroy in whole or in part a religious or ethnic group. Israel has committed the crimes, the question is merely one of establishing intent. I think there are statements made by some Israeli politicians that could indicate that intent, but will not belabor the point. Crimes against humanity are crimes against humanity regardless of intent.
2. The reason you hear more about the Israel/Palestine conflict than those others is because A) there is near universal agreement in the Western world that those other genocides are atrocities, so the issue os not contentious, and B) the US government is not backing any of the groups carrying out those genocides, so there is little for people in the US to protest.
