While We Slept, Donald Trump Launched a War ... on Our Constitution and the Rule of Law

“Americans awoke this morning in a new country. While we slept, Donald Trump launched a full-scale war to overthrow the regime in Iran and to disarm that nation. But it is our nation, our Constitution he has overthrown.
[…]
This morning, America is no longer a democratic republic governed by the rule of law. It is a tyranny governed by a man. Everyone will cheer the end of the horrid reign of mullahs in Tehran. But everyone should weep at the fall of our great constitutional order.

Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says Congress shall have the power to declare war. In common understanding it means a president cannot initiative a war. When George Bush took us into Iraq, he got an authorization to use military force (AUMF) from Congress. In fact, Congress passed three open ended authorizations, in 1991, in 2001, and in 2002.”

Trump’s supporters and defenders are likewise enemies of the Constitution and the rule of law.

The illegal, un-Constitutional attack on Iran was completely unwarranted as Iran posed no threat to the United States, Trump lied about Iran ‘soon’ having missiles capable of striking the United States – another Republican president has again lied America into yet another illegal war.

Well….your next Democrat Presidential candidate can run on restoring the Islamic Regime in Iran.

Nice"with exception of Libya " LoL
Libya was a nation, and we attacked that nation because of it's complicity in terrorist acts, and the fact that the people were already rising up against it's regime. Iran has long supported terrorist activities, and deserved to be held accountable. However, we do have rules about how we do that, and the fact that our present regime thinks rules do not apply to them makes one wonder have they considered all the consequences? And is this a prelude to attacks on other nation that Trump does not like? Precedents mean something.

Bugger off yourself. We have law concerning what the executive branch can and cannot do without the consent of Congress for good reason. However horrible the mullahs are, that is not reason to abandon the rule of law in our nation.
Do actually think Trump hasn’t taken your Marxist lies into consideration? Show where the law says he cannot do what he did. Trump did bot abandon the rule of law.

Our Democratic President elected in 2028 will run on restoring democracy right here in the US. On not funding a goon force with more money than we fund our Marines with. On not allowing that goon force to murder citizens without being held to account. On using legislation and not EO's to establish laws. And enabling citizens to vote, not trying to prevent them from voting.

I dont remember you bitching when Obama spent 8 years as the King of drone strikes. He never went to Congress. Why do you have different expectations from Trump?

It is funny watching you kissers of the orange ass, even when the diaper is full, back Trump no matter what he does. A child rapist and 34 count convicted felon and you people just think that is all fine.

Drone strikes on terrorists. Not a full nation to nation war.

You do realize that if you substitute country names, you've just described Iran.
Complicity in terrorist acts? Yes
People were rising up against their regime? Yes

There's your precedent. If you didn't have this level of outrage now back then, then it's just situational outrage based on who's the President when it happened.

It's because we stopped paying attention to democrat lying. You should have realized that day was going to come.

Korea and Viet Nam are examples that you bypassed. You can call this many things, perhaps it is the world's policeman thing we are doing. Great Britain did this before us.

Drone strikes on terrorists. Not a full nation to nation war.
This isnt full on nation to nation war. Its going to be over in a couple weeks. There are no major ground forces, no tanks rolling in. Just strategic strikes on the people who FUNDED all of those Obama era terrorists, and modern day terrorists.

Well, we are committed now, and the precedent is established. So who next? Canada? Denmark, for Greenland? Mexico? We have a President that is a convicted felon, and shows signs of dementia, as well as senility.
