Many of the verbs used in the Judicial Watch reportage (I went to their site since they are the origin of this story, not the OP link) are questionable. For example, JW claims the CRS was sent to "train" the protestors. However, I see no evidence of that. The CRS acted as mediators in a very tense racial situation, and if that prevented the protestors from going into full riot mode, that is hardly what I would calling "training" them. Except in the sense of training a dog to be obedient.

What I do have a problem with is the federal government getting involved in a local level problem to begin with. Local governments have mediators for this kind of crap. The DOJ is way, way, way outside their jurisdiction, and probably used the thinnest of "civil rights" excuses to insinuate themselves into the situation.

I believe this is because Obama opened his big yap and adopted Trayvon Martin as his son. From that moment forward, those who hate Obama wanted to see Obama's kid convicted as a drug using thief and thug who deserved what he got, while those who like Obama wanted to see Zimmerman go to prison for murdering Obama's kid.

If Obama had simply refused to take the media's bait and just said he deferred the matter to whatever the local authorities determined about the matter, that would have been the last day any of us even heard anything more about it. And the DOJ would have stayed in DC where they belong.

I also see this as the DOJ sending a 'subtle' message, like: do 'the right thing' here or we will take the case as civil rights case

Why is it so important to conservatives that George Zimmerman be found not guilty?

What are conservatives afraid of if an armed man is convicted of shooting an unarmed man? If Zimmerman goes to jail for what he did, what have we lost as a society?

I'll tell you why. Because conservatives live in fear of young black men, and want to be able to call the cops on them for walking down the street without it being deemed racist. The actual commission of a crime by the young black man should not be needed for a call to the cops to be made. The young black kid's existence warrants a call.

They also want to be able to confront young black men about their presence, and the young black man to react to the confrontation deferentially. Uppity reactions, like "leave me alone" or "who are you?" must not be tolerated. Standing still till the cops come is what conservatives want blacks kids to do.

If they don't do this, or even "stand their ground" by fighting back, conservatives then want to be able to fire away, regardless of the actual threat to them.


If Zimmerman goes free, it's open season on young black men.

Too late, the FBI investigated and said there was no reason to believe that racism had anything to do with this case, also only public officials can be charged with civil right violations. Ordinary citizens have no obligation to protect anyone's civil rights.
