When the Juden spoke Yiddish

The Irish still remember the Gaelic in spite of English persecution. Lakota Indians still retain the Native American language in spite of American persecution and Jews still retain their obscure language in spite of global persecution.

How the Yiddish language allowed European Jews from different countries to communicate with each other.
Reminds me of the Native American tribes using a sophisticated form of sign language to communicate with each other.

Now it’s Hebrew ( Again)

Nothing obscure about Yiddish at all .. most Americans use it in their regular speech.
Sure there are a few Yiddish words sprinkled into the English language.
But people who speak Yiddish as their primary language for communication is rare, and mainly found in small isolated urban enclaves in the north eastern part of the US.

Yiddish is Ladino's germanic cousin.

Yiddish is medieval german with a few words in Hebrew related to Judaism.

Ladino is medieval spanish with a few religious words in Hebrew.

Yiddish is alive and well at least when compared to Ladino which is virtually extinct.
