Granted, liberal policies don't always work. Some socialist programs fail. Of course we know many are also successful. That's why not every blue state is equally thriving. At least progressives try out NEW ideas. Republicans just do the same shit over and over without ever trying new ideas.
The thing about red state economics is their philosophy on government: less government and more capitalism. The thing about ReaganEconomics is that, yes, top executives do make more money through the tax cuts, but that doesn't mean they give a shit about investing more in the wages of their workers. They just keep and pocket most of the money they save with tax cuts because, why not? It's a simple decision. They ask: what is the bare minimum in making their low-end job positions popular?
My point is that even though blue states have mixed results with economic experimentation, red state poverty is a constant. Mississippi, for instance, is the economic shithole of America even though taxes on the wealthy are low.
When it comes to economic prosperity, the solution is investing in consumers I.e. Demand-side economics. Give them tax breaks - not people already wealthy. They can easily handle tax hikes. From there, the poor and middle class will become bigger consumers thus businesses will thrive as a result. Everyone is happy that way
Don't know if you realized this but Federal policies implemented from Washington are not made optional to the States. Red states don't have the option to refuse implementation of these programs, whether we like them or not, we have to adhere to Federal laws and mandates.
Now you make a LOT of false assumptions here. Just because a state is red or the people tend to vote Republican, doesn't mean they don't support programs which assist those in poverty. In fact, one of the reasons the Tea Party came into existence was because of the progressive policies of George W. Bush... namely, Medicare Part B (Pill Bill) and No Child Left Behind. Trump is proposing nationalized child care. So there are certainly programs being implemented by progressive "red state" republicans.
Someone needs to turn this question back around on you and ask why we're still having such a huge problem with poverty in this country after over 80 years of progressive policies? Obviously, you programs haven't fixed the problem!
All we EVER hear out of you is more of the same shit... Raise Taxes! Spend More! Raise Taxes! Gut the Military! Raise Taxes! More Entitlements! Raise Taxes! You never stop to look at the results of your insanity... just keep on, over and over, repeating the same mindless nonsense!
It is a proven fact of life that when you tax anything, less of it is produced. So whenever you tax high income, less high income is the result. This is why, when Reagan lowered the top marginal tax rates he
increased the tax revenues by 75%. I know this doesn't compute with idiot lefties because your mind lives in a static vacuum where nothing ever changes. In reality, lower taxes on top marginal income results in more investment which creates more jobs... i.e.; taxpayers. When you have MORE taxpayers, the tax revenues will increase, even though you've lowered the tax rate. This isn't rhetoric, it can be confirmed at the US Treasury Dept. website.
So why do we want to raise taxes and reduce our tax revenues? How does that help anyone? And speaking of help.. how does it "help" someone to enable them to remain in the impoverished lives they have? Do you think an extra $20 to a welfare family is going to lift them from poverty? It hasn't so far and we've been trying this for a half a century. Why not try something different? You're a progressive, why not progress beyond your same old tried and failed policies? How about something to motivate and empower those at the bottom? Instead of lobbying for a few more crumbs to toss at them, why not encourage them to get off their asses and go to work? How about instead of reinforcing the victim mentality, reinforce the message that anyone can succeed if they put forth the effort?
I'll tell you why... because deep down, you don't want poor people to succeed because they won't need you anymore. You had rather keep them imprisoned in poverty so you can depend on their votes for your political power. Then, you can shake down capitalists so that your elitist political leaders can live like kings while spewing the same fucked-in-the-head nonsense they've spewed for decades.
