If you want to run a McDonald's (Or Starbucks, or Five Guys) downtown, you have to rent space in an office building or retail space on the first floor.

Now, there have been a lot of challenges. Post- Trump Plague, a lot of office space remains empty downtown with reduced foot traffic as people aren't keen to give up their nice "Work from Home" jobs.
