What's next after this 2 trillion dollar pork bill, how about 3 trillion more?

Why not? No one has cared about the debt for years so why start now?
Not sure what you are talking about....we have been trying to get a second covid relief package passed for sometime....the left refused over and over again to compromise on their massive spending bill, mitch and the gop were concerned at the massive bill and offered packages that were focused just on covid offering much less..so they were certainly concerned.

Under Mitch we passed a bill that gave Tom Brady a million dollars.
Really? Tom got a million dollar check from the US Govt? Can I see the link?

Tom Brady's health and wellness company received a $1 million PPP loan.
So his small business got a PPP loan, not Tom himself? What's your point? PPP was met for business to keep employees on their payroll and stay in business.

Good that was the point of the PPP program.....does the dems bill not have the widely popular PPP?

And two under Republican control all signed off by Trump. Trump even pushed for $2000. Is that the way to balance the budget?

No, and we on the right were not happy about some of his spending either. But since the commies took over the House, the biggest debate between the Republicans and Democrats were the Democrats kept wanting to spend more and the Republicans less. You can't blame the Republicans for half that spending.

It's why voices like Rand Paul are valuable. Notice though, how former Commie voting John Brennan (how did he become CIA chief again?) suggested some "libertarians" might be National Security threats?

I wonder what his object is when he makes such an incendiary comment.

Like Trump, Rand says what he thinks people wants to hear but doesn't actually do it.

We've had a spending problem for quite some time now. But in this case, we could be talking 5 trillion more of debt in just a few months. What does the future hold until the Republicans can get leadership of the House back?

Do you really think Tom needed 1 million from the taxpayers to stay in business?

Now do people on the street need help to simply pay their rent?

The buck stops at the white house. Why do you give the white house a free pass? Take off the red white blue blinders.

Sending out $ to poor people(under 75 grand income) is a good idea at this time even if they are still working. They are the ones who put it into the economy and since wages have stunk since forever it won't hurt anything. But pull the pork out I do agree.

If you think it won't hurt anything you have no idea how our system works.

Basically, the U.S debt is going to create inflation while also ensuring the collapse of the U.S greenback. Once this happens, it will be replaced by the Yuan and it's game over.

Those responsible for its collapse will be fine. They aren't living in the same neighbourhoods as you or I and I'm sure the most influential will have converted their dollars to the yuan long before hand.

Once our debt is so great we can't even pay the interest on it, our country goes into bankruptcy. It collapses.

Your wildcard is your military. You can simply refuse to pay some debts off, or, as in the case of China, find some ancient debt issue they didn't repay America on.

The problem is, there are already some small nations that have abandoned the U.S dollar. As the EU now signed the trade deal with China after Trump won, they will be shifting more of their government reserve purchases to the yuan as well.

Few are concerned with the reality and the threat, they are too busy lining their pockets as agencies watch by and twiddle their thumbs. Low hanging fruit is the Canadian Way, not the American Way.

You will be going the way of Canada as you allowed China to gain so much, and they will continue to gain as the West plays catch up.

One issue China got right was the penalty for government corruption...

I said pull out the pork and send the $. People need help. If america is as great as we know it is nobody is against this.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Looking beyond the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill, President Joe Biden and lawmakers are laying the groundwork for another top legislative priority — a long-sought boost to the nation’s roads, bridges and other infrastructure that could run into Republican resistance to a hefty price tag.

Biden and his team have begun discussions on the possible outlines of an infrastructure package with members of Congress, particularly mindful that Texas’ recent struggles with power outages and water shortages after a brutal winter storm present an opportunity for agreement on sustained spending on infrastructure.

Democrats passed a $1.5 trillion package in the House last year, but it went nowhere with the Trump administration and the Republican-led Senate. A Senate panel approved narrower bipartisan legislation in 2019 focused on reauthorizing federal transportation programs. It, too, flamed out as the U.S. turned its focus to elections and COVID-19.

Biden has talked bigger numbers, and some Democrats are now urging him to bypass Republicans in the closely divided Congress to address a broader range of priorities urged by interest groups.

During the presidential campaign, Biden pledged to deploy $2 trillion on infrastructure and clean energy, but the White House has not ruled out an even higher price tag. McCarthy said Biden’s upcoming plan will specifically aim at job creation, such as with investments to boost “workers that have been left behind” by closed coal mines or power plants, as well as communities located near polluting refineries and other hazards.

DeFazio said General Motors’ recently announced goal of going largely electric by 2035 demonstrates the need for massive spending on charging stations across the country. Biden campaigned on a plan to install 500,000 charging stations by the end of 2030.

It's been written about that the Covid bill is around 90% pork that has nothing to do with the actual virus itself. Billions of dollars for nonsense like mass transit in Piglosi's state as well as a bridge to Canada in Shoemakers state. Now it's time to spend more money catering to their construction union supporters.

With the Republicans virtually helpless to control spending, we could very well find ourselves with a 4 to 5 trillion dollar additional debt within the first few months under this administration, mostly pandering to unions, environmentalists, and a host of Democrat loyalists. 500,000 charging stations by 2030? At this rate, the US will be Venezuela by then.
Pretend we are fighting the Iraq war. Money was no object back then why now?

China is aggressively pursuing military strength. The money we spend on military helps us keep up with that threat. It's money that not only benefits every American, but benefits countries like yours as well.

The Democrat spending is all on their various support groups. They are buying votes with all of our money. Under the name of Covid, they spent tens of millions on the Kennedy Center and billions on various art groups. This has to stop.

I don't think Tom the individual did....and he likely didn't get the $1200 check. The small business, which is a different entity then Tom Brady the person, might have....and well sounds like he did.

I guess by your logic, anyone with money, that has a business shouldn't have taken PPP loans because well, they could have used the personal money to fund the business.

Which seems to defeat the purpose

The US Constitution charges our federal government with the responsibility to protect their citizens from threats domestic and foreign. I see nothing in there that says they are responsible for making us burn cleaner energy and support unions.

I agree totally, and the Republicans did not control spending under Trump. Quite to the contrary. However, infrastructure repair is crucial for our country which is in process of falling apart. Needed jobs will be created and are indeed much needed.
What to do? Got me. Any ideas?

Maybe quit destroying things all around the world and then paying to rebuild it?

The thing is employers have never had it so incredibly easy finding good workers. This will keep wages stagnated. We have a paper mill here that has had vacancies for 6 months. Problem is they only pay $17 per hour and then the manager complains people don't want to work anymore.

We didn't give Tom Brady a million bucks....your own link says it went to a company of his, a company that employed people, people that needed to keep their jobs.

Do you not understand the difference between an individual, and a company they mgiht be a part of? This was a small business at that.

What I find upsetting about the Dems new bill...is they are giving their donors in Silican Valley, a tunnel....it including building a tunnel for their rich donors.....I mean come on!

Small businesses, and their employees like the one Tom has, is really impacted by all this ...Silicon Valley isn't...and what the heck does building them a tunnel have to do with Covid??

I don't think it defeats the purpose since the money is for those who are in dire need. The idea is for the business owner to put his money back into the business
to keep it whole or borrow from a bank. I had to do that. However, many business owners have been operating on a string today.

But you prove another point. The PPP added millions and millions to the debt and here you are defending it and people say people care about the debt. Obviously you do not.
