Well ... there are probably lots of things. I'm discovering cast iron cooking for something other than cornbread. I have a 7 quart cast iron dutch oven and just tried a really good recipe from a magazine ... espresso roast beef with sweet potatoes. Shared with my neighbors who have cooked so many meals for me when I've come home from work dead on my ass. They loved it!!

Not so. With a properly seasoned cast iron pot you can cook anything as long as you cook something beneficial to the pot occasionally.

I cook spaghetti sauce all the time in cast iron, love it.

But when it's done, I take it out of the cast iron, I don't leave it sitting there.

You can also use that for keeping bbq sauce hot.

Man am I ever stupid... I have been cooking tomato-based food in cast iron for 40 years... Wonder if I could get my money back...

As long as you dont exclusively cook acidic food you're fine.
