WHATEVER the real number is, it cannot come close to compensating the U.S. government for their cost to our "Safety Net," including SNAP, housing subsidies, free public education for their kids, Medicaid, and so on. This is because the Supreme Court ruled many years ago that such benefits cannot be withheld due to non-citizen status.

When Trump 45 promised to make Mexico "pay for the Wall," he was hoping to tax the remittances at approximately the same rate as, say, a small businessman pays in SS - about 13% - and use the proceeds to pay for the Wall. But with all the flak, sabotage and weaponized legal and civil attacks on Trump (you know the two impeachments and whatnot), he never got around to pushing for it.

Which is Mexico's 2nd biggest industry. That is FACT, people.

Remittances sent from the US to Beanerville are behind only the Socialized (diarrheatown IS a socialist shithole) Oil Industry, Pemex. Which, being socialists, they of course stole it from the US, Dutch and English. The Auto Industry may have displaced Pemex in recent years. But, it's still mostly American.

But remittances from the US are still a major, major, MAJOR Industry. Been that way since -- Forever.

I'm for Option 3.

Option 3) Block remittances entirely, which will hurt the originating country and pressure them to take back the illegals (as some countries have said they won’t), and use the money for border security, deportations, and more

Also, how do you quantify the damage to the public schools where the illegals have settled? My high school of 50 years ago (OMG….how did I get to be this old?) were made up of sons and daughters of college-educated professionals who almost all went on to college. Now it is primarily Hispanic, half on ESOL, and 70% on free lunches, and with a high drop-out rate.
