3 mm per decade... it will take over 1 million years for major flooding to happen anywhere. Now they point to islands forgetting that thy are built from porous lava rock and will sink as they break down and compress under constant barrage from ocean waves and sand infiltrations.

Actually, the rate of sea level increase has been dropping since about the middle of the 20th century. Sea level has been rising for about 14k years but the rate has slowed...not accelerated.

There is little doubt that all of the ice will eventually melt. No ice at the poles is the natural state of planet earth. For most of earth's history, there has been no ice at the poles.

Many of the great population centers of the past 10K years or so are already underwater. Coastal shallows in the medeteranean and middle east are littered with remnants of civilizations.
