What should be the penalty for destroying priceless works of art?

They are destroying or defacing historical works of art that have been part of our landscape for decades and petitioning to get rid of ALL that they don't think deserve a place in American history.

And here you have a Free Palestine vandal destroying a priceless painting.

What should the penalty be for this kind of hateful destruction?

Who is the portrait of. Clearly someone from centuries ago that has nothing to do with the modern Israel Palestine conflict.

This reminds me of the destruction of statues of confederate officers and even folks that had nothing to do with the American Civil War. Like Andrew Jackson, Christopher Columbus, or St. Louis. Of course they were always white Christian men. It’s totally hypocritical. Nobody was destroying statues of non-whites in the west.

I think maybe a year in jail at least… the whole thing reminds me of what the Taliban did to the Buddha statues in Afghanistan. It is a crime against humanity of one thing about appear to destroy statues of history. And all these people who keep talking about all slavery, this slavery that give us all the break every group of history by race and religion, engaged in slavery. There is no excuse for destruction of historical statues

The painting is of Lord Arthur James Balfour who was instrumental in Britain ceding the land to the Palestinians and the Israelis. He was very much involved in the establishment of the State of Israel.

That dog don't hunt. Museums are responsible for anti-theft measures, how is this really any different? It's about protecting valuables. Since the beginning of time people with valuables have always been responsible for protecting them. It's a two-way street, always has been.

The law will deal with the dirtbag perpetrator, both criminal and civil. Talking about that is just beating a dead horse.
Felony? Or not? I say should be a felony.
