This has been one of the saddest parts of this. All these people have sold their soul, and they've sold out their religion, to a guy who is essentially the opposite of the Jesus they claim to follow.

It's fair to wonder how serious they were about their religion in the first place.

Trump has never read the Bible. He probably could not tell you if the book Isaiah is in the Old Testament or the New Testament.
Trump will sell you one.

They aren't, just another grift.

More parishioners, more $$$.

Christian nationalism is the modern version of the Religious Right. Like the Religious Right Christian Nationalism wants to restore the moral ethos 1950's. I like the 1950's. It was a good time to be a child. Rates of crime, divorce, and illegitimacy were low. Most Americans were affiliated with a church or synagogue.

Nevertheless, the moral ethos of the 1950's developed spontaneously from the memory of the Great Depression and the Second World War, and from the Cold War.

The Moral Majority tried, and Christian Nationalism tries to restore the moral ethos of the 1950s with government coercion. That is why the Moral Majority failed, and why Christian Nationalism is likely to fail.

Mar 27, 2025 — In a resurfaced video from 2024, pastor and gospel singer Marvin Sapp is being criticized by the internet after he told ushers of the church to close the doors and challenged those at a convention to donate $40,000.

"Christian Nationalism" is an oxymoron. If one is "Christian", Christ and the spiritual are one's center, not materialistic territory allegiance. Nationalism, by definition, is a limited world view of very limited value (if any).

That's a good point. It's a contradiction in terms.

The excuse is that America is "God's chosen country", I believe. Therefore these people are special.

American pastors living the good life from royalties of books they have written is marginally acceptable, but they should devote most of the money to their ministries. If they live the good life from money contributed by their congregations and television viewers, that is not acceptable.

St. Paul accepted money from none of his converts and supported himself by mending tents. :)

There are obviously many Christians who love America, but who aren't alt Right.

The "Christian" Nationalists will continue pretending the term is literal. All of us, across the political spectrum, know exactly what the actual usage of the term is.

Whatever. Boring.
Are you an atheist or agnostic nationalist?

I liked it when Charlie said that he never called himself a Christian Nationalist. But he then added, I am a Christian and I do want what is best for the nation.

No, this term was thrust upon him to label him and demonize him before they blew his head off.

Yea, Charlie was the problem, eh?

You are leaving out the racial aspect that runs through the christian nationalist movement.

And what it is is an attempt at theocracy, which is not what the USA is about.
I see, so to be a Christian Nationalist you have to be a racist?

Interesting

The NARRATIVE is made up by the demented LEFT.
That's why IT MAKES NO SENSE.
🙄

If Christ is your focus all the rest falls away.
A truth that I should really contemplate considering the amount of time I waste coming here.
“Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s.”

I do think that if they study the bible, they can speak about God's will. Because the bibe is lin and clear about things. We all have the voice of Gd in our ear. It's whether or not we listen to it that's the issue.
The Bible has almost everything in it. There isn't an issue that can't be supported by what is written in it.

When reading it complete you can not support the hate from so many. Jesus never taught me to hate anyone outside of maybe the money changers.

"Christians" need to understand the following:

1. calling America a "Christian Nation" is factually inaccurate, and demonstrates a profound contempt for the Constitution, which says otherwise, that we are a nation with FREEDOM OF RELIGION, including FREEDOM FROM RELIGION
2. calling the GOP a "Christian Party" is a disaster, pushes non-Christians over to the Dems
3. Christianity isn't conservative, it is mindless repetitive BS, communist in its origin, no freedom of thought allowed

Religion is for Sunday, the other 6 days of the week are for REALITY...
