It is how the state Dept has done this for decades now....classifying after the fact but before released on FOIA requests....
The State dept does not have a classified email system to work off of daily, their State.gov email is an unclassified system....
agree that makes no sense.
They need to develop a "Classified" level of email server for all of these State Dept staffers and Diplomats to use.
Actually it is my understanding that the State Dept does have a classified system, complete with compartmented soundproof secure rooms. Hillary naturally would never use this, because if the wrong person got that email, they might send over Clinton foundation racketeering mail and the wrong government people might see it.
The State department staffers, SOS and their Diplomats, spend most of their time on the road and in various different countries, not inside the white house for all of them...there is an in house top secret classified system with sound proof rooms to work in when INside the State Dept, without any access to email....there is no system for them to do their daily jobs, that is a classified system.... so anything classified that they are working on, ends up on the State.gove email system, which is an UNCLASSIFIED email system and it stays on that UNCLASSIFIED email system, until it is later classified....usually when an FOIA request comes in and they have to release it to the public.... in the mean time, hackers can hack the State.gov UNCLASSIFIED email server and access classified information if they break in....
These are systemic problems of security that have been going on for a very long time, and it needs to be addressed and fixed, if it can be.
