1. If you still believe it is to educate American students, perhaps you'd care to explain this:
Over 20 foreign nations produce far more educated students than the American 'education' system.

2. Call me cynical, but based on the product, I'd say that government schooling is to turn out little Democrats, indoctrinated automatons who don't research the propaganda they are fed, and join the 74 million who voted for the socialist in the last election.

3. "Student who says she is illiterate — despite graduating with honors — sues Connecticut school district
A Connecticut honors student is suing her school district, saying she is illiterate.

Despite graduating from Hartford Public High School in June with honors and getting a scholarship to the University of Connecticut, Aleysha Ortiz is claiming she cannot read or write.

The 19-year-old, who spent 12 years in the Hartford public school district, testified at a May city council meeting, explaining her unique situation and how the educational system failed her."

4. So.....what is real interest of the government school system?
Watch this: does anyone recognize this flag?

This is the traditional Russian/Soviet/Socialist flag.

And, BTW,it's also traditional to be red......which is why the media changed state designations from red, the socialist/Democrat states, to blue.

Now
If you have any doubt that the mandated government schooling is designed to turn out Socialists/Democrats, take a close look at the red banner the Chicago Teachers are marching behind.

.” It appears the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU), which held a solidarity rally this Saturday afternoon, …. seemed more like a convention of far-left radicals than the image of clean-cut teachers the CTU would like to project. Thousands of red-shirted Chicago Teachers Union members flooded into Chicago’s aptly named Union Square Park at noon today to demonstrate for solidarity and workers’ rights. Protesters embraced radical revolutionary imagery, wearing shirts with Che Guevara on them and holding signs emblazoned with the “iron fist.”

Occupy Chicago and anarchist groups as well as the Progressive Labor Party, International Socialists, SEIU, AFL-CIO, and others stood alongside teachers chanting for solidarity…” Radical left coalesces around Chicago Teacher protest

More.....notice the flag/banner behind which the Chicago Teachers Union is marching......

I know some of the teachers in the K-12 school here in my small midwest town, and I can tell from conversations with them that our kids will graduate mostly with great tools for going out into the world and achieving.

I can also tell, from conversations with a friend and former co-teacher of my late husband, that the kids in their old district get nothing but daycare and sexual/political indoctrination from their K-12 experiences.

They're babysitters and brainwashers.

If Polislick is from a private school, she does them no favor with her lies, deceit, and arrogance.

As a parent, I tutored my kids before they went to school so they knew what to do in school. My specialty at the time was electronics engineering, and I taught my kids about electronics to take to school. They were also well ahead of the others in reading comprehension.

I read that the bill that Trump wants includes tax relief for home-schoolers. We home-schooled, and I believe that if it were tax deductible, more would do so.

The home schooled children I've known have all been so bright and personable and engaging. I certainly wish more parents would home school.

Yes, these parents are not only involved, but conscientious. That usually leads to very good outcomes for the children.

The problem in public schools now is that parents poorly parent their children, so their kids go to school not only unprepared but almost feral (really). Those parents are the same ones who NEVER want to hear about their precious angels being poorly behaved.

So 20 years ago, a teacher would be able to teach, say, 23 kids, and maybe one or two with mild behavior issues. Now, 10 kids are ready to learn; the others' behavior is on a spectrum from mildly disruptive to destructive.

Teachers are not Jesus Christ. We cannot perform miracles.

But never fear, the entire system is collapsing. God help us when it really does.

Well said!

I mourn the possible impending collapse of the system because the great education in my shining little town will fall, as well as that in the nearby sizable town, but I think my neighbors have the fortitude to survive and rebuild. All those poor urban children are going to suffer, but as much as they are now?

Just glad I'm not a teacher.

Soon there will be no more teachers. Children will be herded into school cafeterias to have one teacher, virtual, on a screen for 100+ kids. "Proctors" will get paid minimum wage to simply "discipline" the kids.

We deserve this. Sadly. We really do.

As a culture, yes.

Well, no. Before 2000, it had varied network to network. CBS used red for Republicans since 1984. By 1996, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and the NY Times were all using the same colors. The Washington Post and Time Magazine used red for Democrats. In 2000, the red/blue became effectively permanent with the Bush-Gore fiasco.

Even the Democrats/Socialists knew enough to keep their reall Marxist colors hidden.
They use "Red States-Blue States" in exactly the reverse of the truth.

First off.....this country will never be saved until we get back to the truth....that 'Red' is a term that has always been reserved for anarchists, communists.....and Democrats.
The proof of their power in the media is the switch of Red and Blue as indicators of the two parties.

Red is traditionally associated with socialism and communism. The oldest symbol of socialism (and, by extension, communism) is the Red Flag, which dates back to the revolutions of 1848. The colour red was chosen to represent the blood of the workers who died in the struggle against capitalism.

All major socialist and communist alliances and organisations – including theFirst,Second, and Third Internationals – used red as their official colour.

The association between the colour red and communism is particularly strong.
Communists use red much more often and more extensively than other ideologies use their respective traditional colours.
§ In Europe and Latin America, red is also associated with parties ofsocial democracy, and often their allies within thelabour movement. Sometimes these parties use pink instead, as a "moderate" colour instead of the more "radical" red.
§ In the United States, since the year 2000, the mass media have associated red with the Republican Party, despite the fact that the Republican Party is a conservative-leaning party.

Perhaps we should go to Blue versus Gray, to represent the Republicans who fought slavery, and the grey the Confederates wore while fighting to maintain slavery.

In my school years from 1st through 12th I never had a single teacher ask me personally if I understood what he or she was trying to teach me. Most of the time I didn't, because I wasn't told beforehand what I was supposed to learn.

It was like being handed a shovel but not told what to do with it. If they had told me to dig a hole I would have understood. But I just was handed a shovel. :(

I read a lot to my kids (more to my son than my daughter). The are both very smart but it hasn't led to much success in life for them. Neither seems to take anything seriously. I chalk it up to their generation.
