What is the problem with issuing a federal ID to everyone and making Voter ID a law?

If corporations sell computerized voting machinery that has code switching software in them, as Diebold once did, and folks suspect Dominion does, voter ID would be useless to stop such shenanigans. The only way to stop it is to make the source code open to audit. And they NEVER do that.

It wasn't when Diebold did it, the only way the nation knew was b/c of a whistleblower. . . and that whistleblower got fined tens of thousands of dollars and put on federal parole for breaking various non-disclosure and confidentiality laws. I think some court procedure too. . . .

Except that you have to have one by age 4. That is not quite old enough to make an informed vote--although their vote would probably be just as informed as fully 1/3 of the American electorate is.

The federal government issues military ID's which can be used to vote with. So how would it be unconstitutional to do it for everybody else?
Voting requires a government issued ID, it allows either federal or state.
