If you allow your opponent to define the terms of the debate, you will nearly always lose. The administration should be making the argument that what ICE is doing in Minnesota and other places is absolutely essential for our border security.

Trump is sending a message to the nearly 700,000,000 people living in Mexico, Central America and South America that this is what you will face if you sneak into our country, and that message is the reason there are so many less attempts to illegally cross the border now.

By contrast, under the later years of Obama's presidency and all through Biden's presidency, by now deporting illegal aliens who had not committed a crime in the US, they US sent a message to our southern neighbors that if they could sneak across our border and not commit a serious crime, they could live in the US forever.

If the law is followed and no bias is allowed (such as Trump supporting the ICE agents even though facts say he should be condemning them), ICE would do the right job the right way. Unfortunately, this kind of behavior is being allowed and under those circumstances the "general" bully alpha-male type of attitude of the police comes out and no consequences occur, making the problem uncontrollable.

There is no alternative other than getting Trump and the Far Right out of office.

Warrant squads, which is what ICE and Border Patrol are in Minneapolis, and Swat teams do in some Jurisdictions for the protection of the officers and their families. Can you imagine what the rioters in Minneapolis would do if they knew where ICE officers lived?
