...that is true for everyone?

Some believe everyone should be able to choose moral truths based on what feels right to him/her personally, so that one's moral value isn't imposed--isn't an imposition on everyone--or anyone--else. The definition of truth is that what is true is true for everyone and true for all time. A moral truth is based on logic, not on feelings.

The golden rule comes to mind.
  1. Do Unto Others as you would have Done to Yourself
What if others need/want something different from what self needs/want? For example, what if one commits adultery, or is involved in pedophilia? From there...where do we stand on transgender surgery?

I was reading through other threads while thinking about moral truths, and these two posts jumped out at me. Should our faith, any faith, be dismissed as opinion, or are they a moral truth.

Why should Catholicism matter in anything other than your personal life?
Worshiping God, following the teachings of Christ and his Sacraments, can transform lives. It can lead to stronger selflessness and working with our neighbor.
Catholicism is an opinion.
What makes it an opinion rather than moral truth?

Same reason Judaism or Islam is an opinion. It's not grounded in fact but mythology.

Truth is established by facts.

Judaism and Islam are truth as well. What in Judaism is an opinion? What is the opinion in Islam?

It is divorced from factual history. It's mythology. Bronze age mythology.

Truth is established by facts.
Facts are established by physical evidence and thus different from truth. There are many truths in our lives that have no physical evidence. Examples are, What is the best climate/weather. Some are comfortable in short sleeve tops when the thermometer is 65 degrees; others put on a sweater. These are not opinions, but truths. The truth of what is my favorite color does not change because of the truth that your favorite color is different. These do not qualify as opinions, either. For example, have you ever said, "My opinion is that my favorite color is _____ ." Or, do you state your favorite color as truth even though there are no physical facts that back up this truth?

Yes, truths can differ. But what about moral truths?

It is divorced from factual history.
Facts require physical evidence. Muhammad testified an angel appeared to him. That is truth but even so, has no physical evidence.

You are describing faith. Hebrews 11:1. There is NOTHING supernatural in the natural world. No angel impregnated a virgin, there was no great flood and no angel visited Muhammad.

If their actions harm themselves or harm others we must intervene.

all three desert religions have the same preamble for their bibles - commandments that never existed claimed from the heavens and hereditary idolatries claimed falsely as heavenly in origin.

jesus and the 1st century events are the repudiation of the then prevailing religion and the reawakening of the original goals set by the heavens for a&e the dawn of civilization as the means to free ones spirit to persist in the everlasting for as long as whatever lies ahead for their continued existence.

24,000 written manuscripts say otherwise.

- and still no where to be found their commandments claimed by moses etched in the heavens ...

or the archive of material preserved they used to write the 4th century christian bible - no where to be found, not a single document, nor even a copy of their original bible they spent 100 years writing - by the crucifiers and having nothing to do with jesus or the events of the 1st century repudiation of judaism.
