What is it like growing up Christian???

In OKC where I grew up, there were preachers on the sidewalks in traffic.

I went to vacation Bible School several times as a kid. It was ok. Not great. I didn't think about my soul too much at 10 years old. :D
I got talked into getting baptized when I was 14. The devil must have followed me home because as I lay in bed that night, I rehearsed every nasty word I knew over and over. I knew I was going to hell. I told this to my pastor (years later, different church). He said, "You didn't get baptized, you just got wet." I finally did have a true baptism at 33 y/o. Been saved ever since (maybe by the skin of my teeth).

Our church was more like a Methodist church, always the sleepy sermons.
Interesting. I went once to a Methodist service. Church was dark and gloomy, the minister droned on boringly. If I had gone to sleep no one would have noticed.

It took me years to fully accept God. My years in the wilderness.

More like 4-5,000 feet of sea water covering the high hills. 8,000 tops (there were no oxygen masks back then).
The 29,000 feet was just allegory, ding and I have agreed.

You're 5/6ths. of the way to the truth.

I am Charlie.

I don't get it. Christians seem willing to justify their beliefs for no good reason but there is little response from the factions that use Christians as targets.

I have never ever been fishing or hunting or camping ??

I know these are vital to Christian upbringing in America

Would have been kind of cool to experience

Plus I cannot fix anything and most Christians excel in this

Finally , could have used some good azz whoopings which may have made me a better person
What's it like? When the pastor says "This isn't political.", what follows is political. A person doesn't have to say "This isn't political." when it isn't.

Obvious troll is being obvious.

What's the other 1/6th?
It's your estimate of Noah's flood still beiing 5-6 thousand feet deep.

This is how Ding and I finally reached agreement. It's not going to be as hard as you think it will be. Each time you become willing to reject a bible lie, the Catholic church has an alternative explanation already prepared for you to take its place.

The Bible doesn't lie about the metrics of the flood. The translators, in their zeal to support traditional beliefs (like "Easter") simply used the wrong choice of words. If one studies the story carefully, along with some critical thinking, a different picture emerges.

Well there we go my friend. I can agree that it wasn't a lie, it was the wrong choice of words.

Our Ding cooperated in that way too and that's what made it so easy to find agreement.

If you care, you can ask him for our agreed upon version of Jonah and the big fish story!

Simply used the wrong choice of words!

A different picture emerges!

Yes, there's a different picture and we are exploring the possibilities together and in cooperation.

Can you tell me how you believe that they got something wrong about 'Easter'?

Let's open the door to critical thinking.

Let's open the door to critical thinking.
Act 12:4 plainly says pascha (passover) not Easter. The translators again couldn't help themselves. There is no biblical or historical justification for this error. Subsequent versions have corrected this error.

The translators couldn't help themselves?

The translators made up sh-t?

The translators lied?

I'm good with all of the above. Your choice!

Ding and I didn't need to split hairs over the window dressing. It's all allegory but you're still afraid of the word. Make it 20 feet somewhere in the ME or make it 4000 feet of salt water, its all the same yarn.

We'll get there.

The flood story is written as an actual event.
