In November 1961 during the Berlin Crisis, My 22nd Infantry Battle Group flew from McChord AFB in Tacoma to Berlin in empty KC 135 tankers across the Arctic Circle. My company was in the lead plane and it set a new speed record at the time for planes in it's class. I still have some clippings from the Seattle Times and Stars and Stripes.
