Unfortunately, while they don't take him seriously as a person, they have to take him seriously here. Things had calmed down, but then he took out Maduro.

So now they have to burn time and effort and expense and anxiety over trying to hold off the most powerful predator nation the world has ever seen.
You had to know that there are regions of the planet still wild. The colder areas are more so than the warmer ones. Predator nation! Yet you think we get those checks and benefits out of real infrastructure growth.

I suspect china and russia will carve up greenland if we don't oversee it. The pieces are almost all in place now. Its that serious.
If US military thought there was even a hint that Russia or China was seriously making a move on Greenland, we would have a military buildup in Greenland going on right now.

The 1951 Defense of Greenland Treaty between the U.S. and Denmark grants the U.S. broad rights to establish and operate military bases, including constructing new ones as well as housing troops there indefinitely.

Officials from Denmark and Greenland have stated the existing treaty already allows the U.S. increased military presence and cooperation from Denmark and Greenland, so why does Trump keep making threats to take over Greenland?

You know some of the possibilities.
I am for the status quo, improved a bit.
I agree.
Greenland is not yet ready to become an independent nation. Denmark currently subsidizes the territory, covering most healthcare, education, administrative costs, and public works.

The Inuit make up approximately 95% of the population. When the topic of independence and economic self-sufficiency arises, many Inuit strongly oppose industrialization, such as mining, modernized commercial fishing fleets, and canning facilities; even though these industries likely represent the island’s primary path to economic sustainability.

Fishing and hunting for subsistence are deeply rooted in Inuit culture, and many believe that large-scale industrialization would threaten this way of life. Independence may come someday, but Greenland is not prepared for it at present.

I cannot imagine a person of goodwill advocating anything but complete independence and autonomy for Greenlanders with a strong alliance, including a mutual defense agreement between Greenland and the United States.

Why in the world should Greenland belong to Denmark?

The Convicted Felon knows a not-to-good fate awaits him when he leaves office -- if he does so standing on two feet

He'll become a Federal Judge and rule the nation from his district Court

Fishing and hunting for subsistence is deeply rooted in their culture and the people feel that industrialization would destroy it. It will probably come about someday, but they are not ready for it now.
Really?

How did Greenlanders thrive for thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans?

Why did the European Norse fail to settle while the Inuit survived?

Why? You do know THE USA has -- let the hallucinating addict AI show you up:

AI Overview:

The U.S. has five permanently inhabited territories that are not independent:

Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands, all of which are unincorporated areas where the U.S. Constitution applies partially and residents lack full voting rights in federal elections, though most are U.S. citizens, with American Samoans being U.S. nationals. These territories have varying levels of self-governance but remain under U.S. sovereignty, with residents holding U.S. passports but not voting for President or having full Congressional representation

and...

"Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but it's a self-governing territory with significant autonomy, managing most domestic affairs while Denmark handles defense, foreign policy, and currency, a relationship established after centuries of Danish influence and colonial rule, granting Greenlanders Danish citizenship and a distinct political identity within the realm."

NOW:

The damning, inglorious and glaring deafness, blindness, dumbness, and hypocrisy of The Cult-of-personality surrounding Donald J. Trump that you proudly parade around here is .. pathetic

Okay.

Start a thread about whether the united states should possess those territories, far away from the american continents, and I'll give my opinion there on that topic. You may be surprised what my opinion is.

But I am not surprised that you would deflect, when the topic of this thread is Greenland.

In particular, why Greenland should be owned by a minor european nation instead of the green landers themselves.

A comparison like that is not a deflection, not unless you're just trying to be a mind-******* control freak

Like Native Americans? :auiqs.jpg:

The FAUX concerns for Greenland coming out of MAGA is absolutely hilarious
Again, start another thread, and we'll talk about native Americans outside of Greenland.

This thread is about the native Americans in Greenland and their european "owners."

"Acquiring". Nice euphemism for invasion.

Dipshit.

Obviously you’ve never actually read my position on the subject

Maybe research before you assume.

Why in the world should Greenland belong to Denmark?
