And why is that stain even there?... the dark stain of communism on mainland china ...
I see it as a little of both
Between 1890 and 1940 American attitude toward chinese people changed for the better
And in spite of the dark stain of communism on mainland china has continued to improve
But you can't bring yourself to give America credit for anything because you are so bitter
But it did pass, correct?Prove it. The Magnuson Act wasn't passed until 1943.
I’m not sure about your questionAnd why is that stain even there?
That’s a myth …THere is a new book I can't locate that paints FDR as a truly horrible man.
He seems to have done nothing for the Jews vis a vis the Nazis.
This ^Nothing.
But if we’re going to compare, the Japanese-American internment camps were nothing compared to what Japan did to its enemies, or to Nazi death camps or to Soviet gulags.
America and Britain were the good guys during that war and Japan and Germany were the bad guys. No amount of revisionism will ever change that
^^^"This attitude dovetails with what is known about FDR’s views regarding immigrants in general and Asian immigrants in particular. In one 1920 interview, he complained about immigrants “crowding” into the cities and said “the remedy for this should be the distribution of aliens in various parts of the country.” In a series of articles for the Macon (Ga.) Daily Telegraph and for Asia magazine in the 1920s, he warned against granting citizenship to “non-assimilable immigrants” and opposed Japanese immigration on the grounds that “mingling Asiatic blood with European or American blood produces, in nine cases out of ten, the most unfortunate results.” He recommended that future immigration should be limited to those who had “blood of the right sort.”"
That’s a myth …
according to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the USA did more to save Jews than any other country of the world.
Of course we were also worried about German and Japanese infiltration of immigrants and refugees.
The Jewish refugee ship MS St. Louis that was not accepted to the USA …was never sent back to Nazi Germany …it was sent back to Allied countries that were safe at the time. Only quite a while later did those countries get taken over by Germany where many of the Jews in those countries were rounded up.
The distortionists will claim that it was sent back to Nazi Germany where all the Jews were exterminated. It’s an anti American lie…a grave insult to the Americans who liberated concentration camps and those who died fighting in World War II for freedom.
All the ww2 veterans I spoke with loved FDR. He’s one of the most beloved American presidents of all time. It’s only a very small portion of modern-day Americans that don’t like him based on misinformation and lies from ex Nazis and financial opportunists.
Modern day critics of Fdr use blm left wing tactics .
FDR was socially liberal for his time^^^
Any doubt that scumbag fdr was a vile racist? Immigration restricted to "blood of the right sort" sounds just like that asshole brokeloser.
Fdr was a hero to minoritiesFDR was socially liberal for his time
Since virtually the whole world was racist then he was not unusual
Since WWII attitudes about race have changed in europe and America
So constantly complaining about the Chinese Exclusion Act is rather pointless in the 21st Century

The ship USS America was rejected because of rising isolationist sentiment from republic pols who wanted to stay out of European affairs.
Some Republicans were isolationists. But not the 1940 Republican presidential candidate Windell WelkieThe ship USS America was rejected because of rising isolationist sentiment from republic pols who wanted to stay out of European affairs.

Japan did not want to allow FDR to do things that harmed Japan.I already told you why. In some detail.
Can you give a satisfactory answer to that?
Japan wanted a free hand in annexing land in the Far East, and wanted to seize colonies held there by European powersJapan did not want to allow FDR to do things that harmed Japan.
FDR did not want war but perhaps handled things in such a way to make it inevitable we would be involved in what he hoped would stay a European war. The Americans and Japanese were working on a peace treaty and were coming to the end of what would hopefully be successful negotiations when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Japanese personnel were at their embassy in Washington DC and our embassy in Tokyo was fully staffed and operating normally when the attack occurred.Have you wondered about Japan? Why would Japan dare attack Pearl Harbor? Think about that question.
Did they fear FDR? They did not fear FDR. Did they plan to invade the USA at California? We don't really know by what they did. We need more data from the Japanese to see what they intended. But for those who think FDR was caught by surprise, hear this. He was not caught by surprise. He planned to be attacked.
To start you to think over this, were you Japan and saw a threat in the Pacific Ocean, what would you do? Bear in mind the Japanese had a super huge military. Would you use it?
Did President Roosevelt and other high-ranking U.S. government officials know about Japanese plans to attack Pearl Harbor, and fail to warn U.S. Navy leadership? Drawing on recently declassified materials and revelations from other writers, this book traces the flow of intelligence and concludes the imminent attack was allowed to happen to win the support of the American public in a war against Japan. An epilogue describes the fate of Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet Admiral Husband E. Kimmel, the intelligence he received from Washington before the attack, and the intelligence he did not.

I was very good friends to Japanese families who told me how horrible it was when FDR locked them into concentration camps where the Army had armed troops guarding them to ensure they would not escape. FDR also banned Jews from entering the USA from Germany. My support for Trump has nothing to do with my comments about FDR.Some Republicans were isolationists. But not the 1940 Republican presidential candidate Windell Welkie
Welkie was a popular businessman with no political history. Remind you of somebody?.
Welkie was deeply respected by Roosevelt and served as an envoy to our brothers and sisters in the USSR. Imagine that the guy loses the election it still works for his opponent. That would be like Trump working for Biden today. This was American unity . It was admirable .
This was an era when Republicans and Democrats worked together for the greater good. They supported American causes. They admired our history.
Do you see what’s going on in this thread ? The critics of Roosevelt are not all Trump supporters. Some are anti-Trump critics who are providing a ugly view of US history that is false. Calling Fdr a racist is an insult to the men and women of the World War II era who liberated Jews from concentration camps… the American men and woman of the World War II era greatly respected FDR.
The idea that FDR was racist is a revisionist ideology…it’s applying blm logic to the 1940s
Thank God BLM wasn’t around in the World War II era, or “wokeness” Japan and Germany would’ve steamrolled us if it was
