Trump HAS been convicted and sentenced, not coddled. The law PROVIDES for an unconditional discharge in certain extenuating cases, that is why it is written into the law. That is not coddling. He was given this because in a week, he assumes office as the President, and constitutionally, a president cannot be encumbered, legally or otherwise. To do so would be a grave legal jeopardy for the sentencing judge.

This isn't even going to stand up anyways and it's going to be overturned.

Yep, I have heard the arguments, and I'm fairly certain the entire Hush Money case will be summarily thrown out on at least 5-10 grounds. The entire case (and crime) was a labyrinthinian reconstruction of the intended laws created just to try to trip up Trump and keep him from running much less being reelected.

Most often, the plea agreement defines the sentence to be imposed. In other cases, a judge gives a lenient sentence not because the crime wasn’t a crime, but because it was so minor as to not require prison, jail or even probation.

And there is every reason to appeal. Not to mention that case has holes a mile wide and will certainly be overturned, IMHO.
