What are alternate facts?

No, you are not entitled to your own facts. You are gaslighing. I gave you a fact check piece that you refuse to accept because you don't agree with the premise.

That is on you. You are right there with Psychic Chic.
The same people who put out the bad information are the same people who fact check. And no I don't accept that kind of 'evidence.' I asked for video or audio of which there are many hundreds of hours out there of Trump's statements, press conference, speeches, interviews. So far nobody has provided anything whatsoever but propaganda and deliberate twisting of his words into things he has not said and/or taking a line out of context and pretending it means something entirely different than what he was actually saying.

That is wrong. That is dishonest. That is evil. And no decent person engages in that kind of smear tactic.

Good grief. You can't even come up with a credible metaphor. If I ever teach another debate class, I sure hope you're not in it.

It is wrong that your opinion somehow overrules facts that you won't discuss. You if anyone is dealing with facts out of context. That is immoral.

Alternative facts are statements or opinions that are put out there as truth but are known to be false and/or intentionally misleading.

One form of gas lighting is that constant mostly meaningless mantra: "You are entitled to your own opinions but you are not entitled to your own facts."
The saying should be "you're entitled to your own opinions, but you are not entitled to make up your own "facts."

As far as Trump stating he has revenge/retribution on his mind, no one has to try to twist anything, all one need do is quote him:

Former President Donald Trump has made multiple statements indicating his intent to seek retribution against his perceived adversaries if he returns to the White House. Notable instances include:
  1. Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), March 2023: Trump declared, "In 2016, I declared, 'I am your voice.' Today, I add: I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution."
    Wikipedia
  2. Campaign Rally in Ohio, March 2024: He warned of a "blood bath for the country" if he were not re-elected, a statement interpreted by some as a threat of political violence.
    Wikipedia
  3. Post-Conviction Remarks, May 2024: Following a guilty verdict in a New York trial, Trump described the trial as a "disgrace" and a "rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt," and vowed that "this is long from over."
    Wikipedia
  4. Interview with Phil McGraw, June 2024: Trump stated, "Revenge does take time, I will say that. And sometimes revenge can be justified, Phil. I have to be honest. Sometimes it can."
    U.S. News
  5. Campaign Speech, November 2024: He reiterated his commitment to retribution, stating, "I am your retribution," emphasizing his intent to leverage presidential power for political reprisals.
    Politico
These statements underscore Trump's focus on retribution as a central theme of his campaign and potential administration.

The thing it, alternative facts is a poor choice of words.

It is a world view that is different from the propaganda fed to us by the media's false narrative.
No, it is a lie believed that fits a particular world view regardless of whether the facts support that view or not.

You mean when the MSM took a picture of the crowd 6 hours BEFORE the inauguration and screamed...LOOK AT HOW FEW PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!
That's not what happened.

  2. Interview with Dr. Phil McGraw, June 2024: In response to a question about seeking revenge, Trump remarked, "Revenge does take time, I will say that. And sometimes revenge can be justified, Phil. I have to be honest. Sometimes it can."

For visual confirmation, you can view the CPAC speech where Trump makes the "I am your retribution" statement:

What's wrong and dishonest is your post. Nobody has twisted anything trump said, and the bad information is the informtion that IS NOT fact checked. You have heard trump say those things and yet you demand people contiue to show you stuff so you can deny it. Stop asking people to find stuff because you choose not to believe the facts. If you disagree, do search.

This question drove the public nuts. Can you define alternative facts? Didn't it commence when the discussion of crowd size at the first Trump innaugeration took place? Suddenly we learned supposedly from the media, about alternative facts. To keep in mind we expect this to keep happening. It won't go away because the media won't go away. It will spin things till you think we are on Mars.

So watch this video and start thinking about alternative facts.

Alternative facts are what left wingers are told is true
They usually call the facts conspiracy theories

The saying should be "you're entitled to your own opinions, but you are not entitled to make up your own "facts."
Have you ever watched the Russian TV where they discuss politics?

I saw an episode recently where five or six of them are standing there at their microphones, and the speaker says, "....and as we all know, Russia has the strongest military in the world by far". And they all nod in agreement. I realize they know Putin is watching, but they sure SEEM to believe it as obvious fact.

You get this weird, vaguely helpless feeling. Like, "....what...the....?"

That's what I get all the time when watching the Trumpsters. It's just a separate factual universe.

Taking one line out of the full context is one of the most evil and dishonest thing the left does. Also the right when that happens but the left does it constantly. Just as you did here. Speaking of 'making up your own facts' or a clear example of 'alternative facts.' If you put those lines in their full context, an intellectually honest person would quickly say that he is not talking about revenge.

The same people who put out the bad information are the same people who fact check.
The same posters who believe in bad information refuse to accept fact checks, even though they can't refute them.

Bingo, you discussed the Democrats.

Here's a great example. After this thread..........

........was created yesterday I immediately debunked the premise. The OP did not realize he had made a fool of himself. Subsequently, a number of trumples wrote batshyte crazy posts in defense of the premise or otherwise denying it was wrong. It would have been an OMG! moment if not for the fact that type of behavior goes on all the time. They turn demonstrable truth on its head in ways Orwell would be proud.

When the fact checkers are the same people putting out the bad facts, smart people don't trust them.
You are entitled not to trust them once they have been proven wrong. Not because the facts don't align with your beliefs.

This only gets worse as our "press" continues to dissolve under the weight of the alternate universe.

Everyone walking around with -- and acting on -- their own personalized reality. What could go wrong?
