Who's asking government to fight an idea? However, the voters should know who espouses those ideas so they can vote them out of office.

People who were members of the Communist Party in the 1950 were agents of the Soviet Union who took orders directly from Stalin. As such, they were enemies of the United States and should rightly have been barred from employment in sensative government positions. Anyone who disputes that position is simply a Communist himself, a fellow travelor or an imbecile.

Forgive me here Nick, but do you know what people like Ames, and Lind had in common? It wasn't an ideal that Communism was some sort of nirvana that would be great for this nation. In fact during the Cold War these worthless trash had one thing in common and that is that sold this nations secrets for money. Which most modern days spies tend to do, which is an economic reason. While that is treason to be sure and they belong at the end of a short rope in my humble opinion because of their actions, it is not because of of their political beliefs. Do you think this United States or any other nation is not above paying spies ? or we have not employed spies ? The point here is this, while it's true the likes of Mao and Stalin were nothing but pure evil, to believe in a political system like communism does not make a person Mao or Stalin. Do you honestly think that the person who works at Foxconn pumping out those Apple iPhones is out for world domination, I hardly think so, they are more likely interested in making enough money to eat that day. So its not as cut and dry as you would like to believe my friend, and to your other point, the nice thing about the 1st amendment is that even though even I who doesn't like Communism because I believe it is a failed system because it does not give people the right to own their own property, I would defend the right of any American who chooses to spout off in the public square their beliefs in it. The reason why is simple, because when we as Americans start selecting what political belief is good what is bad then we make ourselves no better than the ones we as Americans tend to dislike. I have more faith in this nation to make the right decsion even if the numbers are few. The likes of of Lucille Ball, and Albert Einstein and even Robert Oppenheimer father of the US Atomic Bomb who were all communist do not belong in some American gulag for their beliefs nor does anyone else for exercising their 1st Amendment rights... As the Maxine Water's video clearly demonstrated, there is little difference between the beliefs of "liberals" and the beliefs of communists. The fact has been demonstrated repeatedly in this forum. Communism has gone mainstream. They no longer hide under beds. They infest the halls of Congress, only they call themselves "progressives" or other such innocuous sounding euphemisms now.

These people do not love America. They hate America and everything it stands for. They have been doing everything they can to destroy it since 1917.

I can't believe I find myself in the position where I have to defend communism of all things, considering how I spent a good portion of my life. However that said, if one loves this nation then they love the fact that people enjoy the right to express beliefs that we may not agree with and that right was paid for in blood and is still being paid for today. In fact to advocate for a position protected by the 1st Amendment of all things is to exercise a "right" given to ALL Americans. While perhaps the beliefs may or may not be the same, it does not matter in this case , because in a lot of the nations in which Communism flourishes the right to express one's opinion such as here would result in a jail cell when it is not the "RIGHT" opinion. I did however suggest, that those that tend to place their fellow Americans in such catagories as "unamerican" or " communist" should then in fact live what they advocate then and simply stop supporting Communism completely both in terms of shopping at such places like Wal-Mart, Dell, Apple, etc etc etc etc etc. and both you and I know that until such time as we as Americans begin to take control of our own destiny once again, then thats impossible and to label our fellow Americans in such ways doesn't help much.

I never implied any of the spies did it for communism... I'm well aware they did it for cash.
