Welfare equivalent to $50,000 a year job in many states

So, let me lay this out there for you. Chicago, single mom, two kids, boys, ages 10 and 12. Scenario one, she stays home, collects welfare benefits equal to a little over $26,000, Illinois is one of the lower paying states. But she is home with her sons everyday, after school, helps them with homework, and keeps them off the street.

Scenario two. She works at a local grocery store making 13 dollars an hour for forty hours a week. Her sons are latch key kids, she often works evenings. They join a gang because they have no oversight. And in the summer, it is Katy bar the door. How can you possibly believe that scenario will provide better long term results?
Let me lay it ON you.
There is a mechanism called planning arising from beforehand thought.
So, before you get pregnant from 3 different men who are no longer around-do some thinking and planning instead of emoting and fucking.
The absurdity you are offering is that society and the producers in society are obligated to consider and pay for this woman “needing” to say at home with others paying for her to do so based on decisions she made. It’s pure socialism lunacy but it does show the feelings and actions of those who caused the recent election to turn out like it did
Far far too many responsibility shirking, blame assigning Americans.

A large proportion of these people are single mothers, which showcases the total hypocrisy the Republican “family friendly” claims.

Highschool girl gets pregnant, wants an abortion.
Republican: sorry kid, no can do, you must have the baby.

Single mother applies for welfare.
Republican: you are able bodied, work!

Single mother can’t find affordable daycare on a minimum wage job, asks if she can get help covering daycare.

Republican: it isn’t our problem if you can’t find affordable day care.

Single mother finds slightly better paying job, but it is in a city with a high cost of living and no affordable housing.
Republican: you people bring down housing values, we don’t want affordable housing near our homes. You’ll have look outside the city.

Single mother finds a low rent option an hour from her job, but she can’t afford a car and there are no public transportation options, so she moves back home with her mother and decides to try and finish her education. She lives in a small town that has been steadily losing population, lost it’s major industry, has no jobs and no longer even has a grocery store nearby. She applies for welfare.

Republican: lazy welfare queen, you are able bodied, you need to be working!
Again ignoring who took the precipitating action and AGAIN obligating someone else to fix the mess and pay for it

Ever heard of not becoming a single mother with multiple children from multiple fathers???

Starts off that way and stays that way via CHOICE from all the monetary supplements that go with that choice paid for by those who disagree with the egregious behavior

You can’t unbreak the eggs and unmake the omelette, it’s kind of pointless to this sort of discussion when the person is past that point of the problem.

That “egregious behavior“ has existed since the start of the human race. What do you suggest….go back to a more barbaric system?

So what do you do about it?

Doesn’t say if they’re working full-time jobs. Working three afternoons a week doesn’t cut it.

in fact, many of the people on the charity programs intentionally hold their hours to a minimum in order to get all the freebies possible. When NYC raised its minimum wage, people who HAD been working 40 hours an hour found that the new wage was so high that they no longer got the freebies. They purposely went to part-time in order to keep qualifying for other people’s money.
Got a link for all these claims?

Why would anyone work?

A young woman on welfare with two children is the equivalent of a $50,000 a year job - and that’s before you consider commuting costs. If she has three children, her TANF and food stamps and “earned” (cough-cough) income credit reach $60,000.

Now consider that many welfare types live with extended families, so that the young woman with two children is living with her own mother, who still has a teenager at home, and they get the equivalent of another $40,000 a year. So a family with two adults, a teen, and two kids gets nearly $100,000 a year.

Now consider the typical family, headed by two high school graduates. Mom works In a support role in an accounting firm for $20 an hour, and Dad works the deli counter at Harris Teeter for $22 an hour. Together, they bring in $80,000 - BEFORE taxes.

No wonder we have a labor shortage.

All this survey proves is that the minimum wage is too low in these states, which is what liberals have been saying for years, and that it won't even supply minimal subsistence, not that welfare is too generous.

Get back to us when you have real solutions to these problems not right wing talking points calling every low wage single mother a slut who should keep her legs closed.

So what do you do about it?

Severely cut the programs. Secondly is to make getting fixed a requirement before receiving one red cent from any welfare program. No more having kids to get a bigger HUD house or larger welfare check plus SNAP's. No more section 8 housing in the suburbs. If you need housing, you have to go where the costs are the cheapest to the taxpayers.

"Folks, if you pay people not to work, don't be too surprised when they don't!"

Spot on, the vast majority of individuals receiving EBT work. So EBT is not a welfare program, it is a program that subsidizes low wages. The solution is really simple. If you are an employer, and your employees receive government benefits, rather it is EBT or rental assistance, you are taxed the cost of those benefits.

That is completely stupid. If you are going to hold employers responsible for the bad decisions of their employees, you'll have many less employers.

People don't open up businesses as a social obligation, they open up businesses to provide products or services for a profit. They offer jobs for X wage. If you can't make it on the wage they offer, then it's up to you to find a job that pays the wage you need. If you can't find anybody willing to pay you more money, then you fd up, not your employer. It's up to YOU to make yourself worth more money, not them to overpay you.

Most people getting welfare assistance who are not children or disabled, work.

The majority of families that received benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in 2018 included at least one employed individual, according to the American Community Survey (ACS).

In 2018, 12% of the 79 million families in the United States received SNAP benefits at some point in the previous 12 months.

More than three-quarters of those families had at least one person working and about one-third included two or more workers, a clear indication that many families that rely on nutritional assistance worked.

Any statistics on how many of those people have a smart phone with unlimited plans, cable television, order movies or have extra movie channels, eat out more than twice a week?

It's a real simple solution to a problem: don't have kids you can't afford to raise. Tens of millions of women do it every single day. Pregnancy is not an infliction; it's not like you're walking down the street, a lightning bolt hits you, and now you have to have a child. It takes some effort to have a baby, and much less effort to avoid having one.

Why would anyone work?

You can thank Covid and Democrats for that. Faced with a good paying job of hard work and responsibility where a person can lead the rebuilding of a major company, 75% of the useless twats at Twitter have said that if they have to actually get out of bed and go to work rather than sleep around the house until mid-morning unshaven working at their kitchen table in their underwear, they'd rather LOSE THEIR JOB.

Too bad they might find it very difficult to convince Welfare that they deserve support for walking out on a good job, and last I checked, Meta and others in the industry aren't exactly hiring.

So be kind.. .. .. the next pencil you buy off a one-legged homeless person on the streets may be a former Twitter Executive that censored a president of the United States. :smoke:

I figure your stupid ass has me on ignore. Mostly because you can't handle my arguments. Someone quote me so this stupid bitch sees the response. Again, the entire OP is based on a single mom with two dependent children. Please, explain to me why you feel that single mom should be working a full-time job when she already has one, raising her children.

Again, taxpayers should not be paying her to raise her children. If she can't raise them, then she shouldn't have them. I would like a nice new 4 wheel drive truck so I can get a plow and do my parking lot and driveway. Why don't I have one? Because I can't afford it. Don't have things you can't afford. This is something any 8 year old can figure out.

Scenario three: A woman with no skills or education decides not to have children until she has a way to support them, so she doesn't have any children.

Gee, now isn't scenario three completely stupid? :eusa_shhh:

And it begs the question, why should those mothers be working instead of staying home and taking care of their children, so you can pay less in taxes?

No, they should be taking care of their children and not taxpayers. If you can't afford to take care of your children, don't have your neighbor do it, simply don't have any children.

I'm a retired truck driver. Right now the transportation industry is short over 60,000 drivers, and it's predicted to get worse as us boomers retire. No, it's not easy work, but some jobs can pay up to 6 figures a year depending on what kind of job you're willing to accept.

We have able bodied people on welfare (working or not) while this industry is begging for workers. Some jobs offer on the job training if you sign a one year contract with the company. If you don't want to be obligated to that, you can pay for training on your own which is only a couple thousand bucks and the school will guarantee you a job as well.

Walmart is so desperate for drivers they are offering their warehouse workers the opportunity to advance themselves into this new career. They still can't find enough people.
