The government would regulate nearly every aspect of your restaurant's operations. You'd mostly serve steak, not hamburgers, because third-parties would be paying the bill. Insurance companies would be required to pay for steaks for hungry people. Etc.

Then the government would one day come up with Obamafood, the Affordable Food Act to throw money at the needs of all the people who can't afford the $100 hamburgers, let alone $500 steaks. Steak prices would then increase to $1000. The Republicans would promise to repeal it, because people should by paying for insurance required to provide $500, or $1000, steaks out of their own pocket. But, the Republicans would offer tax-free Food Savings Accounts, to show they care about the little guy.

Right. There's no practical difference between the government giving you a tax break on something and the government giving you money to subsidize that something. So, untaxed benefits for the rich (and, for anyone else with a job that provides real health insurance) are government subsidies for the rich.

The subject of tax expenditures goes miles above the heads of the Tard Herd.

It's as basic a fiscal conservative principle as it gets, and they are so far off the reservation on that one it is disgusting.

They have been deliberately dumbed down by the interests who rob their very own pockets!

It's not just tax expenditures. We can argue about those. There are market economic reasons they are bad, but Hayak could make the same argument against some environmental regulations, but he explicitly chose not to because he concluded a pure free market would result in intolerable environmental conditions.

But there's no logical basis to argue that the system Trump wants to return to had less cost controls than Obamacare. And covered fewer people with insurance. So it that's where the gop wants to go, I'd think Pelosi would be laughing he
