If this is legit, the first paragraph of the linked article says:

"Along-shot Missouri gubernatorial candidate who once admitted to being an “honorary” member of the Klu Klux Klan says he will defy attempts by the state Republican Party to have him kicked off the ballot."

No political party can stop anybody from registering as a member of their party, And some bad apples are almost certainly registered in all recognized political parties. Those who equate the Republican Party as suitable for or wanting this guy are more dishonest and malicious than this guy probably is.
