Correct. We will never convince the deniers. Giant world wide conspiracy theories are fun and exciting to think about. Slowly changing climates, where the action happens over years or even decades, just can't compete with that for entertainment value.
Then there is the feeling of belonging these socially handicapped tRumpkins get from high-fiving each other every time they think they've scored some sort of point. For instance the 2 dozen or so threads that were started about the polar vortex disruptions last week.
And finally there's the way these things are presented to them, as if they are some kinda privileged information that only a chosen few get to know. It makes them feel (falsely) superior to everyone else, even if only for a few minutes, and that can be a powerful thing if you suffer from low self esteem like the vast majority of these nut-bars do.
I used to be in the warmer camp in the '80s and early 90s...Then I sought to debunk the debunkers for myself....Guess what I found out instead?....You chumps are a bunch of hysterical and scientifically illiterate fearmongers, who have found a big scary boogerman around which to rationalize growing The State. We will never convince the deniers. Then I got deeply into the study of linguistics and semantics....Guess what else I found out?...That the warmists are deliberately deceptive, if not lying outright, in their use of language.
I looked at the facts and changed, while deniers like you ignore them.
Horse shit.I would like to see some redistribution of wealth. I would like to see a narrower gap between the rich and the poor. I would like to see everyone decently fed with full healthcare and access to all the education they can take. That can be done in this country in a number of ways: an end to fossil fuel subsidies, cuts in defense spending and the reduced cost of medical care and increased productivity the lead changes would produce. But that has NOTHING to do with my desire to avoid global warming beyond 2C.
You people have such a simplistic view of your political opponents.

What qualifications do you have to conclude that folks accepting the conclusions of mainstream science are "scientifically illiterate"?

Yep, that.
Moreover, the Trumpletons live in a terribly frightening world as it is, what with gays, immigrants, the IRS, the PC marms, Muslims, leftists / socialists, the unwashed fearsome hordes abroad, the statists, the globalists, the federal government (etc.), all out there waiting in the tall grass for them. Next, on top of all these horrors, alight these darned climate scientists telling stories about things that sound threatening, which they don't understand, except, they're being lectured to, and they'd need to move their flabby arses and change their way of life. That, finally, is too much. And that's why they huddle under their tinfoil umbrella provided by scores of denialingdong sites, while enjoying the feelings of "belonging" you've already mentioned. "Coping" with shared fears, and sharing the scathing resentments against any and all qualified by way of actually knowing their stuff, there's some "belonging", religiously celebrated.

Conservatives will remain willfully ignorant on the subject, not understanding the difference between climate and weather.
You're exactly right....You have no idea.No idea who Donny might be but when this is your response, we can tell you got NOTHING
Not much fusion is the future and it is nearly here. Then we can start using oil for polymers. Self healing bridges. Translucent bridges. The building materials you can make with the stuff is amazing. The future is bright and we will have less to argue about. How many trillions do we need to waste...err...invest in windmills, to make sure the climate never ever changes?
What I got is losers like you, who act more like a religious cult than anyone interested in science.I'm exactly right: you got NOTHING
