Dems cave and open the .gov before then?

Dems pass a stand alone bill for SNAP?

States cover the shortfall with their rainy day funds?

Blue cities burn?

IMHO

There has never existed a time in contemporary Western society when the population of "helpless" fat people was larger than it is today....The last I read it's around 47 million in the US on SNAP/EBT.

Because of all the "help" our society has given people, we now have tens of millions of fat people who can't live without that "help".

And we've now reached the point where we don't know what the heck else to do with them. 😐

Put them on boats and ship them back to North Carolina.

Virginia governor declares state of emergency to expedite food aid during federal shutdown

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin declared a state of emergency on Thursday to help maintain food aid for state residents as a three-week-long U.S. government shutdown threatens to halt federal benefits.

Youngkin said the move would allow him to use emergency funds to assist Virginians in the absence of federal appropriations to fund the food benefits administered by states.

If the Dim politicians actually cared about the people in the Dim base, a large percentage of whom are on the dole, they’d finally agree to end the Schumer shutdown.

But they don’t care at all about people. In fact, my prediction is based on that:

They will allow the Schumer shutdown to proceed because it will foment anger in their base. And that anger, in turn, could be weaponized to reclaim some votes from their political opponents.

I don't like seeing government employees standing in long lines to get food from food banks.
I don't like seeing the WIC or SNAP programs run out of money.

Family Wealth vs poverty. I don't like pinching pennies and then losing elections.

Burn the cities, make S'mores in the flames.

Yep. They’ll let it fester and become a riot and then media blames it on republicans.

Easily explained.
1. The poor you will always have with you.
2. Many in the middle class have moved to the upper class.

Pass the ******* CR already!!!

Fun and games time is over. People are going to start feeling real effects.

Government employees have missed only one paycheck. You mean to tell me that these people, with average salaries of around $100,000, don’t have a month’s worth of savings? Even a lowly GS-5 with a high school diploma still gets around $50,000.

If ANY government worker has gone to a bar for a couple of drinks, bought expensive name-brand sneakers, went out to eat numerous times at Applebee’s or Olive Garden, etc - without having built a nominal savings cushion knowing that a Government shutdown is always a possibility every October - I have no sympathy.

Just cursively looking at your graph, I see a roughly 3X increase in the upper 10% and double for the next lower 90%. Considering the difference in investable income, I don't think these numbers are unreasonable at all. I think the graph was an attempt to elicit a knee jerk response from people who won't think critically.
