We have a problem that will only be fixed by a catastrophe occurring

Nearly Half of Americans Think U.S. Could See Another Civil War

That is not just me but close to 170 million think a civil war is coming. Why don't you send that meme to all of them?

  • 47% of Americans think there is a likelihood of another U.S. Civil War in their lifetime. A slim majority (52%) think the possibility is either not very likely or not likely at all.
  • Republicans (53%) are more likely than Democrats (40%) and independents (41%) to say there is a good chance that our nation will experience a civil war in the future.
1,192 adults do not constitute 1/2 of America Lucky

In addition, the revenge that Trump is threatening automatically generates a like reaction, which means the same kind of retaliation.
Trump is going to 'fix' what the Dems broke Lucky, the only threat is exposing them and their policies as the economically detrimental constitutionally crushing fools they've been

Selfishness is a human trait and your post does not say anything different.

What my OP is about are the extremes that are now in play. Extremes are all bad.
And those extremes have been with us since we evolved from monkeys.

people who get their news from randos on social media are morons

There is a problem worldwide that started occurring when social media began but the pandemic has taken it to a much higher degree. Here in the U.S., this problem has been taken to even a much higher degree by Trump, given that he is the ultimate example of the problem.

What am I talking about? Selfishness.

Here is where it began:

Up to here in this OP, this problem is worldwide. All nations that have social media online are experiencing this.

Nonetheless, we elected a narcissist president and narcissism by nature means selfish behavior to the max. He has been a magnet for other narcissists to become supporters of him.

Having said all of the above and with Trump now our leader and the above proven to be in effect, what then does all of this make it a big problem that can only be fixed by a catastrophe?

For any nation to survive, the "team concept" needs to be in place. A nation is a large group of people where everyone plays a part of its success and more importantly, needs to be a part of the success. When only a small portion of its citizens enjoy success and the large part does not, the nation crumbles and disunity occurs. Disunity brings disfunction and that brings chaos.

The only thing that can cause selfishness to go away is for a catastrophe to occur where people are FORCED to work together to survive. As long as one side can win and the other lose, selfishness will remain. When both sides are losing, selfishness needs to disappear or a loss to all is certain.

I have no idea of what kind of time frame is involved here (a few years, a few decades or even a few centuries) for this problem to reach its conclusion, but the reality is that there is NO SOLUTION available as only a catastrophe can solve it now.

The Selfishness virus has taken hold and there is no vaccine or medicine to cure it.
Libs idea of compromise is for everyone to do what you tell us to do

Then we can all live happily ever after in lib la la land

Looks like you're the only one PO'ed here Lucky

Nature of the Sample: Marist Poll of 1,192 National Adults This survey of 1,192 adults was conducted April 16th through April 18th, 2024 by the Marist Poll. Adults18 years of age and older residing in the United States were contacted through a multi-mode design: By phone using live interviewers or online. The sampling frames include RDD listed landline and aggregated online research panels. Survey questions were available in English or Spanish. Phone and online samples were selected to ensure that each region was represented in proportion to its adult population. The samples were then combined and balanced to reflect the 2022 American Community Survey 5-year estimates for age, gender, income, race, and region. Results are statistically significant within ±3.4 percentage points. There are 1,047 registered voters. The results for this subset are statistically significant within ±3.6 percentage points.

This OP is not about Trump fixing or not fixing anything. It is about the disunity that is happening due to the extreme selfish behavior, of which Trump is the prime example of that. Stay to the topic

Extremist aren't new. People are just more aware than they were before

I am predicting a civil war because almost 50% of the people are seeing that happening. In addition, the hate that is being spewed by both sides is a good predictor that things will not be compromised on. In addition, the revenge that Trump is threatening automatically generates a like reaction, which means the same kind of retaliation.

Is that specific enough for you?

Worst loser ever ^^^.

Extremes are not new but Extremes are normally not "in control". The extreme right is "in control" of the party and that is "extremely" bad.

Wow, you cannot be more than 10 years old, if that, if you are seriously pretending you only now have noticed that politicians are selfish.

We’ve had a catastrophe for the last four years but voters fixed it on November 5th.

I ran into this video today and it is a video that I believe is extremely important for everyone to watch. It is a 100% "informational" video of what is happening to the world and to us (compared with the rest of the world) and it covers everything from health, mental health, anger, greed, etc. It paints a very sad and negative situation based on data, statistics and facts. For example of one of the statistics given is that the suicide deaths due to "despair" in 2020 got up to 209,000 .vs 65,000 in 1995 and that number continues to grow.

Watch the video and get informed. No politics involved in the video
