"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein

We can apply this to our current political two party paradigm can't we?

Our inept, corrupt, two party system got us into the mess we are in. Can you people honestly think that that same two party system can solve the problems it has spawned?

Or do you tend to agree with Albert, as do I ?

I agree that the concentration of power into two groups and the commitment to getting and maintaining power within those two groups has erased any real desire for good government within those two groups.

So what is the solution?

Einstein was talking about physics problems. Ironically the same dumb asses who throw up their hands because ...sob...sob the current administration only controls 2/3 of the federal government are the same people who ridicule the Tea Party for trying to make the republican party better. Join CUSA if you want to force the democrat party further left.

There is no appeal to the center.

I am of the belief that there are disenfranchised members of both political parties that would welcome a new approach.

Maybe a pragmatic outlook that does away with absolutism and idealistic but impossible outcomes that sacrifice good solutions for those deemed perfect by either extreme.

And yet your thread is the same old stinking thinking (think about that).

Here's an idea: First define the problem(s). Next, think of all solutions, no matter how odd. Then discuss the merits of each and refine the list. Trying to solve the myriad of problems we face by fitting only those solutions into an established dogmatic ideology is ridiculous.

Let's define one problem and see if a reasoned discussion can be had.

THE PROBLEM: The debt and deficit spending.

YOUR SOLUTION: [KEEP IT CLEAR AND CONCISE]

Defining the problems would actually be a new way of thinking compared to the current system now wouldn't it?

The idiots in the twp parties can't even agree on what the problems are can they?

Mostly true, sadly they rarely agree on a solution, and when they try they seek to create a horse and actually create a camel.

There is no simple solution to the debt and/or deficit spending. Both are primarily driven by the entitlement programs, and those programs constitute the third rail of government.

Once a socialist program is started, it becomes almost impossible to stop. Too many people become dependent upon the program, and doing away with it, or limiting it in any meaningful way causes too much pain for people on the edge.

We have created a disease in the body politic, and eventually, that disease is going to kill its host.

So, to be clear and concise your idea is to eliminate Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare and all forms of welfare including food stamps. Is that correct?

I agree. We can't fix politics with politics. We have to fix politics by fixing ourselves first.
