We can compete with china in manufacturing

It has declined because the US economy has transformed from a manufacturing base to a service base. It will decline further if we continue to be burger flippers for burger flippers.
So you officially don’t know anything about economics or Fiat currency or what inflation is, that’s literally all you had to say.

It has declined because its a fiat that is backed by nothing, and we have a representative class who spend like drunken sailors with terminal cancer.

Are there any national currencies that aren't fiat currencies?

Make sure the entry level factory jobs are north of $30 per hour. Thats a great and cheap deal for employers.

Factory jobs dont pay the bills.
For anyone but a financial moron they do. I am acquainted with a large number of former factory workers that would say, as usual, you don't know what you're talking about. BTW, try renting a lodging even on over-inflated burger flipper wages. LOL

If they are owned by private concerns, then there is a middleman. Legalized loan sharks. Ostensibly they can show up at government committees and tell the politicians how the currency is doing. It is the politicians who run the currency into the ground for power. The owners of the currency ha sit s own power that grows and grow until they control everything.

Respectfully disagree. The other spouse had better be eorking more than 40 hours per week. But if they are smart they wont have kids. Thats what the nation is wanting.

The value of most modern currencies is derived through the constant buying and selling in foreign exchange markets and is driven by supply and demand. Economic factors like interest rates, inflation, growth, government policies and crisis are the typical drivers of demand.

No...but some have a balanced budget requirement enshrined in their constitution. Also, many peg their currency to another nation or an economic union, e.g. EU.

So what? They are backed by the same thing all fiat currencies are backed with... nothing. They are all houses of cards based upon trust and confidence in the country; which practically speaking means their government. So your statement that the US dollar has declined because it's a fiat currency is idiotic.

You want to know why the dollar rises during financial crisis? It's because we have the biggest baddest military on the planet. That's what people have confidence in. And there are only two things that I know that can change that; a bigger badder military or failure to pay treasury bills when they expire.

Funny.

The video points out that we can lower the cost of raw materials in several ways including energy production

And mining

But even if America matches china in the cost of raw materials there is still the issue of labor costs

China pays much less for workers than America pays

The chinese standard of living is lower than ours

Some misguided people here will say that American workers should make less

And/or that we need cheap migrant labor from the 3rd World

But I reject that idea

We need tariffs that close the unfair advantage that china enjoys

that will make everything from Apples to Ziploc baggies much more expensive.

15th post
Then you should back restoring a draft.

Our military is so expensive because it's volunteer.

We pissed away 8 Trillion in Afghanistan and Iraq and had nothing to show for it.

We have the tomb of Gilgamesh

leftwinger

i dont even expect 100% US manufacturing as we had in the fabulous 1950’s

We can import from Vietnam, Taiwan, S Korea or even places like India as long as they buy products from America too

There should be a balance of imports and exports from friendly trading partnets

Which china is not

They intend to bury us and I dont want to see that happen

As long as the communist CCP rules china we should buy nothing from them
Yeah

Good luck with that
