We are not alone?

Yeah, trust me I know. The bottom of our ocean could just as easily be at the bottom of IO, and the life there wouldn't notice. Far, far, far outside of the Goldilocks zone.

Your knowledge of planetary science is very limited.
I don't believe I will trust you.

You don't? We already have, at the bottom of OUR oceans. Alien lifeforms that have no relation to any other life on Earth.
Let me know when it's not on our planet. I won't be holding my breath.

The movie “AD Astra” explored the premise of life out there.

One of the best films l’ve ever seen.

Who defines life that way? You? Was their life before cells evolved?
Coaservate droplets almost qualify as life. Some computer viruses do too.

Have you ever googled "what are the characteristics of life?"

The characteristics of life include cellular organization, the ability to reproduce, growth and development, the processing of energy (metabolism), homeostasis, response to the environment, and adaptation through evolution. All living organisms exhibit these fundamental traits to varying degrees.

I don't need to. I was around when they were formulated. The only one of those characteristics that a high level computer virus doesn't exhibit is a metabolism. They replicate, they mutate based on outside influence, they hide within existing code, all attributes of life.

Meh.

If there was actual concrete proof of extraterrestrial life, it would be the biggest news story by a vast margin. It would eclipse the Charlie Kirk news coverage. It would be all anybody talked about on any and all of the news networks.

As someone said, wee went through this exact scenario multiple times and so far the fossilized chemical reactions or whatever wind up having explanations that do not involve extraterrestrial microbes

Wake me up if the scientific community actually verifies that this particular time it’s a sign of life.

Then you should know without a metabolism a computer virus doesn't meet the requirements. What about cellular organization?

Computer viruses and biological life differ fundamentally because life possesses characteristics like independent metabolism, reproduction using biological machinery, growth, and adaptation, while computer viruses are non-living programs that rely on human-made infrastructure and user actions to replicate and spread. Biological life is organic and evolves through natural selection, whereas computer viruses are inorganic, programmed by humans, and do not possess a survival instinct or consciousness.

Once a high level computer virus is launched it is no longer under the control of its human designer. From that moment on it exhibits all the traits of life except for a metabolism.

Under your definition, where you said all life exhibits these traits to "varying degrees".

So, what's the cutoff of "varying degrees"?

Existing in a machine.

The varying degrees would be a single cell organism to multi-celled organisms like a human being.

How many lines of code is considered " multi-celled"?. A good computer virus is almost undetectable and mutates to a different form when under attack. Yes, existing in ALL machines it is able to inhabit. And they have the advantage of machine learning.

So, the computer virus does everything that an amoeba does, and more, and far better....it just doesn't have a metabolism.

I’m not going to argue with you over your belief that a computer virus meets the requirements for life. Especially since you already admitted it doesn’t.

Let's have NASA and the DOD stop stonewalling about UAPs and alien biologics that very credible witnesses are telling us about in sworn testimony. It's clear that they are not aggressive or they would have already killed or enslaved us by now.
If they really do, exist.

They just don't know if they are aliens...or the 'us' of the future, who figured out how to time travel, in to the past? Or if there are more dimensions on Earth, where some have learned to cross over? :dunno:

What’s a UAP?

In my line of work is stands for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel…..

Viruses are non-living? ... they have no cell membranes nor do they metabolize food stuffs ... and remember, biological viruses evolved after their bacterial hosts ... much like computer viruses evolved after computers were invented ...

I think we need to be more open minded about what life is when we're searching not just "out there", but what was here 2.2 billion years ago ... none of the life forms that exist before survived the Great Oxygen Crisis ... except the blue-green algae that poisoned everything else ...

I will stand by carbon though ... he's the only element known to readily bond with himself ... forming the long chains required for life processes ... I'm no geologist, but I don't think either the aluminosilicates or the silicoaluminates do ... nevermind iron and magnesium contamination ...
