We all need to reflect on the polarization and violence that dominates our politics

Americans, on both sides of the political spectrum, are incensed by the senseless assassination of Charlie Kirk. There needs to be a focus on the needs of Kirk’s wife and children, so sad. There are idiots on both sides of the political spectrum who react, inappropriately, to violence toward politicians of the opposite party. In the past several months, besides the Charlie Kirk assassination, there were two attempted assassinations of Donald Trump, an attempted assassination of two democratic Minnesota legislators, ending in 3 deaths. and an arson fire started in the home of the democratic governor of Pennsylvania as his family slept upstairs.

Too often, one side blames the other side for everything that bad happens. Nobody can have it all the way we want. For success everyone must give a little.

We all need to find a way to lower the temperature. We need to work on finding areas of commonality. There will always be differences. We need to find a way to deal with the differences in a more functional way.

It is up to us, not someone else.
Whats wrong with killing Charlie Kirk? Democrats have repeatedly said that he was a far right Nazi... for years. Why shouldnt people kill Nazis? Nazis are evil and they should be eradicated, right?

Whats the issue here? Why arent you happy that the left took out a Nazi? :dunno:

We have to find a way to have the majority, not all, find commonality in our politics.
Part of the problem is the majority is not nearly as loud as the minority. Think of it in terms of the algorithms that drive what shows up on your FY page in whatever social media you consume. Whatever you look at the longest is what it gives you, and the loudest, nastiest voices are what we react to. Do we spend more time on a post by someone ranting with hate about a politician we like/dislike or someone peacefully saying that they're having a good day and they're not mad at anyone?

We're led by our own devices to accept more extremism than we should.

This board is not about that. This board is about hotheads and Russian trolls fomenting hatred and division.

Do you have any idea how stupid and ignorant you come across when you claim "Russian troll" every time someone writes something that is not approved by your echo chamber?

I honestly wish that you did.

“Order provides the stabilities that we crave, but chaos creates the opportunities for change that we need. [...] Those who are waiting for internal order will be the subjects of external chaos, those who yield to internal chaos will be the architects of a new order.”
― T.J. Kirk

The solution is simple

Proportional Representation.

Completely changes the dynamics of voting, changes how politicians see politics, changes how voters see voting.

It makes a country better

No it doesn't. Our nation is becoming more depraved and reprobate by the day. Has nothing to with different types of voting/representation. Has to do with what is coming.
