None of the cockpit voice recorders survived the four crashes (only two of the FDRs did).
It got me to start wondering why there is only one CVR and one FDR on the planes. I checked and it seems like there is only one of each still on planes; 25 years later. It would seem like multiple recorders would be smarter than having only one.
It would also seem to me that the same technology that deploys an airbag in a fraction of a second could either deploy to cushion the blow one of these devices may experience or eject the device from the aircraft so it doesn’t get destroyed in the building or mountain with the rest of the aircraft.
Does anyone know why there is just one each of these devices on a plane?
