Watch: RFK jr confirmation hearing now

At no point in time has anyone said physicians shouldn't address lifestyle modifications.
You just did.

You are advocating medication over guidance. I can point to almost every response you have given me in this conversation as proof of that, so don't even bother trying to deny it.

If all you do is wag your finger and tell them to take meds without giving them any guidance to enhance the meds effectiveness, you are a piss-poor physician. Meds and (in this case lifestyle) are synergistic. One enhances the other and vice versa.
Thankfully literally no one advocates doing that!

You're the one saying that you should give people medications.

Now you're trying to attribute your argument to me. I'm saying medications are necessary in certain situations, not that they are necessary in every situation.

RFK is a liar. If you believe he was totally going to say something, you're a dope.
No, I think you and the Dem Senator are liars.

Notice, the Dem Senator never said he wasn't being dishonest when called out directly.

Most people would reject that.

Apparently they're not necessary in diabetes, or high blood pressure. What else are they not necessary for?

The underlined above is a lie.

Except that's not true.

It is true. Your first suggestion was "start meds." Then what, after what period of time do you start telling them how to eat? Do you tell them at the same time you prescribe the meds or until you evaluate the effectiveness of the medication? How long do they stay on the meds?

If they had been told how to eat before it ever got to that point, meds would not be needed.

Apparently you can't grasp the idea of preventative medicine, which would make medication unnecessary.
Preventative medicine is to prevent disease. If you show up with an A1C of 12%, you have diabetes. Horse is out of the barn at that point. Start meds. Counsel on dietary changes.

Now, if you have an A1C of 6%, that's prediabetes, and you just talk about lifestyle modifications.

You start telling them how to eat at the same time. They say on the meds until they no longer need them.

People are told what to eat. Often times, they eat what they want anyway.

One of two outcomes:

They are dead. Or they aren't. You dictate treatment decisions based on that. If they aren't dead, then you look for the root cause, you give medication or prescribe other treatments, like pacemakers, transplants, or bypasses, and then you demand they change their lifestyle habits.

You don't just say "here, take two of these and call me in the morning." You tell them to take the meds and change whatever caused the heart attack in the first place.

You're supposed to diagnose the problem, not medicate the problem.
.

And remember that you are talking about an industry in which health=decreased revenue streams.

I was so fortunate to have worked for a doctor, my first job out of school, who never turned down a patient, regardless of ability to pay. Many of his patients were farmers who paid him with bushels of produce and freshly butchered livestock. One of the most formative experiences of my life.
