Watch for a shift in the narrative.

We all remember how Repubs were all about fending off a recession while Dubya was still prez. They helped pass TARP, which authorized $700B for the purchased of distressed assets to prop up the financial system. They also helped pass what was essentially phase 1 of the auto company bailout. Bush announces $17.4 billion auto bailout

Then came Obama's landslide election and suddenly Repubs became quite concerned about the size of the budget deficits. They would spend years sabotaging the recovery under the guise of that mantra.

With another Repub in the Oval Office at a time of great economic strain congressional Repubs have had no qualms with spending trillions of dollars to boost the economy in order to enhance Big Fat Don's chances of re-election. Budget deficits be damned.

However, they are beginning to understand the political cost of the nation's debt expanding so massively while a (R) is prez. After all, they have pretended for years to care about deficits and have duped their constituency in to believing they are fiscal conservatives (nothing could be further from the truth).

Enter one of the most conniving, deceitful politicians to ever disgrace the Senate chamber. Someone who sees the potential danger to the fortunes of Repubs over all the spending. What's a cretin to do?

McConnell Calls General Relief for States ‘Blue State Bailouts’

"Right now state and local governments are dealing with most of the front-line responsibilities for battling coronavirus at a time when the economic collapse is destroying their revenue bases; unlike the feds, they can’t just print money, and most toil under balanced-budget requirements. So they could use some no-strings help, but the party of Richard Nixon is hostile to the idea, even though Republicans completely control 21 states and share power in 14 others.

Democrats had to champion aid to state and local coronavirus efforts as part of the big $2.2 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill enacted nearly a month ago, and were able to secure $150 billion. With governors of both parties calling for $500 billion for states alone prior to passage of the “interim” stimulus bill that has passed the Senate and is pending in the House, Democrats went to the well again, but only got permission for states to use money unobligated from the first pot of money for general fiscal purposes. Donald Trump tweeted support for doing something for the “lost revenues” the states have experienced in the next stimulus bill — which is presumably the final one, at least before the election. But now Mitch McConnell is pumping the brakes, and complaining about the profligate states and how they don’t deserve help:"
...............................................................................................................................................................
Leave it to a piece of slime like McTreason to wordsmith the ubiquitous need on the part of all states who have seen their revenue base markedly decline by trying to define it as a "blue state" problem. Repubs and right wing media have already worked exhaustively to deflect blame away from Trump for his failed response to the virus. Now McTurtle is ready to pitch in by putting blame on blue states for a crisis not of their making.
This is what happens when you constrict yourself to a simplistic, binary partisan ideology.

These Reaganite wannabes have been cheering Trump on while he's exploded spending since DAY ONE, long before the virus.

A cautionary tale: Don't get sucked into an ideology.

You gotta love the irony in threads like these and both sides do it. We have to control spending when the other side does it never when our guys are the ones doing it.
Check the actual record of deficits while Obama was prez instead of relying on talking points and right wing media propaganda to form your opinion. Deficits declined as the economy improved. Then came the Orange Turd, Repubs forgot about austerity, and the deficit climbed again.

Mac comes down on boths sides of every issue. That's what it means to be a moderate. You stand for nothing.

Holy crap, I'll bet that if you guys couldn't lie about me to make a "point" (another one 2 posts above), you probably wouldn't have much to say!

Murphy: Federal assurances on use of rescue funds 'apparently were empty'

Gov. Phil Murphy on Thursday blasted the Trump administration for its “empty assurances” on how New Jersey could use billions of dollars of Covid-19 rescue funds after the U.S. Treasury Department issued guidance on how the money could be spent.

The guidance requires that money from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, H.R. 748 (116), goes toward “necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency with respect to the Coronavirus Disease 2019” that were incurred between March and December of this year.

We told all voters don’t vote for failed democrats.. you all don’t listen
dOnald tRump is a failed Democrat?
Huh
Read the thread kid.

You're gonna hafta learn to do this on your own.
Democrats are failing every where of course you need a bail out,, but now it’s time you work your way out of your mess you made
Still not quite there, kiddo.

Try again.
Huh
^Clueless tRumpling^ says "huh" for the second or third time today.
You keep deflecting
No, you keep missing the point.
No I’m not, the new deal! Promises of benefits! Pensions! It gave democrats votes! Now your in a hole asking republicans for help! DIE OFF YOU SLUMS

States shouldnt be getting free money bailouts either based on the irresponsible decisions made in years prior.

What irresponsible decisions would those be Trout? In a national emergency, who makes the decision, Trout? In a worldwide pandemic, is your first thought as President "How can Americans best profit from this pandemic?" or "How do we protect the American people from the disease that is sweeping the world?"

You cannot save your economy, without first protecting your people. It's the people, stupid.

I notice when Berg is caught in a corner...he likes to deflect a lot. Something the Kremlin has taught him during
his indoctrination.

No, you're the one who is deflecting, and then accusing others of doing what you're doing.

So just to be clear: The states with the large international airports and border crosing, are also the states with the first and the largest rates of infection. Had these states had TESTS so that they could test everyone coming into the country from hotspot nations early on, and to test people suspected of having the virus when it first appeared, those early cases could have been quarantined and the virus supressed. Like other first world nations did when the WHO first issued tests.

Instead, Trump wanted to profit on American made tests. His hand picked head of the CDC blew it, and the USA still hasn't got a quick, cheap, accurate CDC approved test. The Abbott tests, touted as 15 minute results, are only 80% accurate. Not good enough.

The virus got loose in the USA because of decisions made in the White House. Now McConnell is blaming the states for the costs of treating the virus Trump let loose into the Country. And prepared to let those "blue states" go bankrupt. That'll teach them to disrespect Donald Trump.

Ever Republican President since Reagan has cut taxes in their first year in office, and increased deficits to fund military spending, and every Republican President has crashed the stock market and the economy in doing so.

When is there any recognition on the part of Americans that you can't keep giving Republicans the opportunity to destroy the country with their corporatism yet again?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. Elect a Republican and watch them crash the economy, and try to bail out the wealthy on the backs of working Americans.

Here are the facts this nation has been debt free one time in our history for about one year under Andrew Jackson since then we have been spent into debt no matter if it had been Republicans in control or Democrats. The honest people on both the right and left know and there are honest people on both sides that when it comes to spending and running up debt there is no difference between the two parties. You and the OP do not fall into the honest category you are the classic it’s only wrong when the other side does it partisans. I favor the Republicans more than the Democrats but I don’t pretend like they are always right and the Democrats are always wrong I see the warts on both sides something you and the OP seem incapable of doing.

Don't listen to the President.
That's the best advice you've ever given. Cuz......you know..........liar.

“Have you been briefed by the CDC?” Kernen asked.

“I have,” Trump replied.

Kernen then asked: “Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?”

Trump said: “No. Not at all.”

“And, we’re, we have it totally under control,” Trump said.

“It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”
TDS bullshit thread #1,675. Or is that how many days in a row berg has posted the same debunked bullshit? I lose track.

More irony from the left wing talking point machine you are full of more shit than cow pasture.
I've grown accustomed to vacuous, ambiguous accusations like that. If you have something to say, and think you can prove it, please proceed. But we both know you don't, and you can't.

Cuomo Reminds McConnell That KY Takes More Money Than NY: ‘Who’s Getting Bailed Out Here?’

*New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) reminded Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Thursday that for all his trash talk about “blue state bailouts,” the GOP leader’s state is the one that reaps the benefits of New York’s payments to Uncle Sam.

During his daily press conference, Cuomo pointed out that not only does New York chip in more money than Kentucky, the Empire State also takes less from the federal coffers than it contributes – unlike Kentucky.

“Senator McConnell, who’s getting bailed out here?” Cuomo asked.*

Like all Repubs, McTurtle does not do well in a factual debate. His specialty is deceit.
