I was in the military for 20 years....I know all about empty offices on Fridays.

Let me tell you a war story than.

First: I am a REMF / poge (not POG) I came back on a long weekend Friday and my duty station was empty. I had a computer file that I knew had sensitive info on it. I knew I just could not leave it there as is. I found a file'n cabinet with a combo lock...so I locked in there.

On Monday I came to work 2 hours late and a buck SGT (I was a E-4) asked if I knew where it was. I told him....yeah, I locked it and he went NUTZ on me. (these people were shit'n pants that it was missing) I reported it to my next step in the work chain of command / my boss a E-9 who loved me more than ice cream. He had the section SGT standing tall in less than 10 minutes.

Now back to the OP...that spool was lost because personal were not at thier assigned post...with full knowledge of the commander. SOP at least one troop (CQ) should have been there....even if it was just to answer the phone.
