Washington Post audio of Trump berating and threatening Georgia Secretary of State for not "finding" votes to change election result. Sedition?

President Trump urged fellow Republican Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia secretary of state, to “find” enough votes to overturn his defeat in an extraordinary one-hour phone call Saturday that election experts said raised legal questions.

The Washington Post obtained a recording of the conversation in which Trump alternately berated Raffensperger, tried to flatter him, begged him to act and threatened him with vague criminal consequences if the secretary of state refused to pursue his false claims, at one point warning that Raffensperger was taking “a big risk.”

Throughout the call, Raffensperger and his office’s general counsel rejected Trump’s assertions, explaining that the president is relying on debunked conspiracy theories and that President-elect Joe Biden’s 11,779-vote victory in Georgia was fair and accurate.

Trump is engaging of sedition and overturning the will of the people through fraud.

Trump should be arrested for sedition for attempting to overthrow the newly elected government of the United States of America.

Everything Trump touches dies.

Is American democracy next?

you do realize that proves me right dont you??
LOLOLOL

Only if you believe Georgians don't elect Georgia's state legislature -- which apparently, you don't believe. :ack-1:
I have to ask,, why didnt you put the definition of a republic up so we can compare the two??

Funny how none of you libtards can quote the threat.
LOL

Nah, what's funny is that you're a raging imbecile.

"I think you’re going to find that they are shredding ballots because they have to get rid of the ballots because the ballots are unsigned. The ballots are corrupt, and they’re brand new, and they don’t have seals, and there’s a whole thing with the ballots. But the ballots are corrupt. And you are going to find that they are — which is totally illegal — it is more illegal for you than it is for them because, you know, what they did and you’re not reporting it. That’s a criminal, that’s a criminal offense. And you can’t let that happen. That’s a big risk to you and to Ryan, your lawyer. And that’s a big risk." ~ Impeached Trump
Cool.

Dumbfuck, that's a threat of "vague criminal consequences." It's not my problem you lack the required intelligence to comprehend that.
It is?

You have quite the imagination.
It is. Telling someone they're at "risk" of committing a "criminal offense," which could result in incarceration, is absolutely a threat of "vague criminal consequences." But don't fret, I don't expect someone of your vacuity to understand that. Just go resume your utopia of snacking on paint chips dipped in mercury.

sounds just like your Russian Collusion bullshit
In other words, you think that this kind of behavior is acceptable, yes? If Biden pulled a shit stunt like this, you would want his balls on a platter.
You have to put America's rightwing into the proper perspective. These are the same freaks who defended Trump when he tossed paper towels to flood victims.

And Democrat liberals who cheered when Pelosi ripped up a STOU speech on camera, and held back aid to suffering American's in this pandemic because she didn't want to give a win to Trump.....You fucking hacks have NO STANDING to call anyone anything!

Pelosi didn't "hold back aid". She passed two bills giving more aid to suffering Americans, and Mitch McConnell wouldn't even take them up, much less negotiate with the House on these deals.

As for ripping up Trump's "STOU" speech, well how terrible!!! How many Americans died because of this egrious action? SHE DISRESPECTED TRUMP!!!!! OH THE HUMANITY!!!!

In other words, how dare we call Trump on his illegal actions, many of which have caused thousands of innocent Americans to die, millions to fall into poverty, and the economy to be destroyed.

We heard Michael Cohens testimony under oath to congress about how Donald Trump conveys threats to the people he's trying to intimidate. After all, Michael Cohen was one of Don Trumps enforcers.

So we know how Trump threatens people.

Yanno...................Georgia only has 16 electoral votes. Granted, whoever wins the state gets all of them, but here's my question...............

Trump lost to Biden 306 to 232 in the electoral college. Now, 306 minus 16 is 290. 232 plus 16 is 248. Even if GA decided to flip, Trump would still lose 290 to 248. Why is it that Trump and his followers have decided to die on this particular hill? Even if GA did flip over to Trump, he'd still lose the election.

This is a huge waste of time for Trump and his supporters. Why can't they just accept the fact that Trump lost, and there is nothing that will change that?
I have no doubt Georgia isn't the only state Impeached Trump is trying to strong arm into handing him their respective elections. This is just the only one with audio proof we've heard.
He is trying to strong arm Georgia because they have Republican leadership

In Trumps world, Party loyalty has precedence over the US Constitution

impeached for what?????!!!!
Trump knows he won the real vote. That's why Democrats on this board want him impeached.
Trump knows that he is facing criminal and civil jeopardy th e second that he becomes a private citizen . Thyat is why he is so pathetically despaate to cling to power. I am loving the spectical!
He won't face any charges after being pardoned.

Who's going to pardon him - Pence after he quits a day early? Joe Biden?? Himself??? (doubtful legal). But even if he were to get away with pardoning himself, the state of New York is gonna be on his fatass like a cheap suit ;-)

Per O.C.G.A. 16-11-66, you can record a telephone conversation in Georgia if you are a party to the conversation (on the phone). The recording will typically be admissible evidence at any hearing or trial.

Now that you read them the statute making the recording legal, do you think that will stop them from calling the recording illegal?

You have to keep in mind that we are talking about incredibly fragile, easily-offended, easily frightened leftist snowflakes who are so frightened the election will be overturned, having no confidence in the idea China/Dementia Joe pulled this win out by himself that they are the most miserable, stressed out, frightened 'winners' ever seen.

If they are so confident Joe won, why are they so deathly afraid to allow an audit, to allow an inspection f the voting machines, so afraid of what really happened that despicable that when 1st-hand-account eye witnesses / whistle blowers came forward to testify most Democrat acted lie undisciplined children by attacking them and calling them names instead of allowing them to talk and ask legitimate questions? The Democrats' behavior is not one of confidence in the fact that they decidedly own but of a child running away as fast as they can knowing they just got away with something.

Trump begs Georgia secretary of state to overturn election results in remarkable hourlong phone call (nbcnews.com)

Full tape, no pay wall.

Some of ya'll need to listen to the whole thing with some discernment. Yes, he did say those words and many more besides but full context is everything.
Thanks for that. You are right, there is context there. However, all of Trump's 'evidence' is nothing but his feelings. Again and again, the lady from Georgia is asking him to send through the information they have, and at one stage he said that 'it is unnecessary'. Really? We should just believe him.

One of his things is that people from out of state voted. And when it is explained to him that some of those people moved out of Georgia and then moved back again - over a period of years - he gets condescending, like 'as if people do that'. Well, yeah, Donald, people move back and forth all the time.

However the biggest lack of evidence for mine, is not just with Georgia, but all the other states (funnily only the battleground ones he lost), he talks of thousands of people turning up to vote but being told they can't because they have voted already. Apparently those people are really pissed off. Only problem is, I haven't seen one person interviewed who said that has happened to them, let alone the 20,000 that Donald said.

Also, he said 4,000 dead people voted. Georgia found two. I could go on.

Trump is nuts.

And yet you skipped the parts that they all agreed there were large discrepancies in the vote counts that totaled more than the number needed to win and they weren't doing all they could or should do to ensure the integrity of their system or results. Trump did say a few times that he just wanted to know the truth and was asking them to investigate it and they did say they would look into it.

Trump did not threaten anyone to make them give him the needed votes.....like the media has spun it

Can you point out - like give the time stamp - where they agreed there were discrepancies.

They said several times that his information was wrong. He might have said he wanted the truth, but he was also TELLING (not ASKING) the folks in Georgia that they were wrong and he won the state...period.
Trying to be funny? Or do you have a better tape with time stamps, that can be paused or searched thru?? I'd venture a guess somewhere between 1/2 & 3/4 of the way thru, maybe? But I'm not going to listen thru the whole tape again just to prove your bias

Thanks but I don't want or need anyone else's opinion. I'd rather listen to the tape myself and form my own opinion on the matter.....which I have.

Have you?

Yes.....I have listened to the tape.

the full one hour tape??? Or just the media excerpts?

The whole hour. Trump is disgusting. He's repeating himself and browbeating them.

Yes, he's browbeating. And yes, his "facts" are wrong, but that's not illegal. I don't get the 'let's compromise' part suggested by Trump's team. It makes no sense in this situation. 'ummm...recalculating' the vote to give Trump the win does sound shady, but in context of Trump's arguments, he'll never be prosecuted. The man lives in an impermeable bubble where it makes perfect sense for Raffensperger to agree they counted illegal votes, and all he needs to do is admit a few of them--11,799 to be exact.

Now, whoever gave this recording to the press felt Trump was way out of line, or they wouldn't have shared it. They definitely felt they were being strong armed. Probably the threat of criminal prosecution was the final straw, although who Trump thinks would prosecute this is a mystery. They know better.

I wonder if Raffensperger is sorry, yet, that he voted for Trump. What do you all think?

The call was inappropriate.

The Georgia Sec State should never have agreed to talk to one candidate in the election without including the other candidate.

Trump: Find enough votes until I am elected

His office declined the requests for this call many many times, but administration kept applying pressure.

Congress really needs to impeach and convict this crazy swamp monster and there should also be a criminal investigation for this blatantly corrupt solicitation.

They never should have accepted a call from either candidate.

They are supposed to be impartial. Allowing one candidate to influence the election without including the other candidate in he process is undue influence

Trumpy Bear sounded like a mob boss doing a good old fashioned shakedown on that call. "It would be a terrible thing if something awful were to happen to that beautiful teenage daughter of yours."

Yes indeed. Trump acted just like how Michael Cohen testified to in front of congress. So it's on record, coming from one of Don Trunmps former enforcers.

Cohen described Trumps m.o. to a "T".

I wonder if Raffensperger is sorry, yet, that he voted for Trump. What do you all think?

Raffensperger released the tape after Trump mischaracterized it in a series of tweets.

According to the Post report, Trump told Republican Brad Raffensperger, "So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have.

That, Conway suggested, amounted to election tampering.

the relevant penalties for attempting or proposing fraud.

52 U.S.C § 20511(2)(B): "A person, including an election official, who in any election for Federal office- knowingly and willfully deprives, defrauds, or attempts to deprive or defraud the residents of a State of a fair and impartially conducted election process, by- (A) the procurement or submission of voter registration applications that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held; or
(B) the procurement, casting, or tabulation of ballots that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held, hall be fined in accordance with title 18 (which fines shall be paid into the general fund of the Treasury, miscellaneous receipts (pursuant to section 3302 of title 31), notwithstanding any other law), or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."

And that boys and girls, is not a conspiracy theory. It is not TDS. It is not flaming or trolling. The phone call by Trump actually happened. He actually did ask the Georgia AG to act on his behalf. The federal code really does make it a crime. He really is the President, and was a candidate for reelection. This really is politics.

Which means this post by any measure belongs right here.

You can't be that dumb Skew?

Here is the full quote:

"So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state. There's no way I lost Georgia. There's no way. We won by hundreds of thousands of votes."

Notice the lack of a threat in it? No bribery, no money offer, no blackmail nothing unlawful going on. He never says create bogus votes, just FIND 11,780 votes, which obviously means existing votes in the system he thinks are really his as he say he thinks he won by a few hundred thousand votes.

"You know what you did and you're not reporting it. That's a criminal offense. That's a big risk to you and your lawyer"
.... and you're letting it happen, I'm notifying you that you're letting it happen."

--- "and it's gonna be very costly in many ways..."

THAT'S A THREAT, Dildo.

"So Brad, what are you gonna do"? It would be most unfortunate if you were to wake up some morning....

Then he goes on to declare "they're shredding ballots and removing machinery" ----- AFTER BEING SPECIFICALLY TOLD BY PEOPLE IN A POSITION TO KNOW THAT THOSE ARE *NOT* HAPPENING.

:banghead:

"Full quote" MY ASS.

And then the fucking moron goes on to announce "you have a big election coming up on Tuesday".
He's saying this to THE FUCKING PEOPLE WHO RUN THE ELECTIONS IN THE STATE. Like they wouldn't know they have an election.

CHEESES JUMPIN" CHRIST what the fuck do you NEED?

That quote was NOT in post one article....., so where did you get it?

STRAIGHT OFF THE AUDIO :banghead:

Fer fuxsake it even has SUBTITLES.

Oh it has subtilties, thanks for bringing it up as I am DEAF, which is why I didn't bother with the taped call.

Ok now I watched the 4:31 portion, it is clear Trump is full of shit, but he didn't break any laws in the conversation, and that the Secretary didn't get upset at any time, he says he and his people stand by their decision and have faithfully done their job.

Republican Brad Raffensperger never complained about the conversation as being illegal or threatening.

Here is his response to a Trump tweet:

LINK

I suggest you park your partisan silliness on this.

This is how uninformed you are.

The SOS of Georgia won't do the investigating because he believes it's a conflict of interest so he has handed it over to an Atlanta district attorney for investigation.

From what I read in the following article, yes he most certainly believes trump committed a crime.

Here's some very good advice, stop getting your news from far right sources. They aren't giving you the truth.

I would NEVER talk with Trump without two witnesses and a recorder. I think Raffensperger and Kemp hate Trump. Most people do.
